Chapter 1

Reese POV

All I remember was blacking out in the house fire. I looked around and saw darkness for miles. Am I alive or  dead.? I could hear voices but I couldn't see anything.

" Do you think she'll live doctor.? " a female voice said.

" Yes. Right now she's out of her coma and actually she's just sleeping. We have to make sure she doesn't end up like the other victim. Died yesterday night. But we're certain that Miss Crippen will be fine. "

Mariah's dead. My best friend since pre-school is dead. I can't believe it. I don't want to live anymore knowing that I'm alive and she's dead. I'm going to give up.

" SHARICE.!! " a voice yelled coming from my head " DON'T GIVE UP. YOUR BATTLE ISN'T OVER. NEVER GIVE UP.!!! " the voice said fading away.

Never give up. Never give up. Never give up. Those words kept replaying in my mind as I opened my eyes. I saw that I was in a white hospital room. I tried to sit up but let out a loud scream because of the pain. A nurse came rushing in and helped me get comfortable. She sat me up and I thanked her.

" Your welcome. I'm Nurse Lauren and I'll be here for you if you ever need anything. If you need me just press that red button. " she said turning to leave. "

" Actually Nurse Lauren. Could you call my boyfriend. And my brother.? " I asked

" Yes right away Miss Crippen. " she said walking out the door.

Roc POV

I was at home asleep when my phone started ringing, Who could be calling me this early in the morning.? It better be good.

" Uh hello.? " I said rubbing my eyes.

" Hi this is Leela Martin calling from Saint John's hospital. Is this the boyfriend of Miss Sharice Crippen.? :

I sat up. " Y-yeah. What's wrong.? "

" Oh nothing's wrong Mr. August.! " the lady cheered. " I was just calling to inform you that Miss Crippen has awoken from her coma and has requested to see you.! " she said.

" R-really.! " I yelled getting teary eyed.

" Yes. So you can just make your way out here so you can see her. "

" O-okay. I'm on my way.! " I said hanging up the phone.

I showered and put on my black jeans a polo and my black snapback. I slipped on the chain Reese got me for my birthday that said Double R. Most people thinl it means Roc Royal but only Reese and I know it means Reese and Roc. I got in my car and sped off towards the hospital. I pulled out my phone and dialed Prod's number.

" Nigga what you doing calling me at this time of the morning.!? " he yelled into the phone.

" Prod.! " I yelled. 

" What nigga.!? " he questioned.

" Reese is awake. Come out to the hospital I'm on my way out there. "

" What.! Okay I-I'm on my way. " he said hanging up.

I threw my phone in the passenger seat and turned into the hospital parking lot. I got out the car and ran to the front desk.

" Can you tell me where Sharice Crippen's room is.? " I said to the teen girl at the desk.

" Just as soon as you tell me your number,! " she said popping her gum.

" Listen. Tell me where the fu*king room is now.! " I yelled in her face.

" She's in room 202. " she said rolling her eyes. " I ain't want your a*s any way.! " she yelled at me.

I gave her the finger and walked to Reese's room. I opened the door and saw her looking at tv. She saw me come in and her face lit up.

" Rocky.! " she yelled holding her arms out with tears coming out of her eyes.

" Babe.! " I yelled hugging her. " Prod said he and Bre are on their way." I said getting into her hospital bed.

" Where are the kids.? " she asked.

My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach when she asked that question.

" Uh Reese. Star kidnapped Cj and Stephanie. " I rushed out.
