"Crouch! You thing!""The hell. I AM."
"I swear, get on the ground. No, you dolt! AWAY from the window!"
It was evening, orange rays of the fading sun spilled through the window, painting the girl's face warm hues. The shorter girl was flopping on the floor in front of her.
"I AM AWAY FROM THE WINDOW!" She shrilled, and the taller one stuffed her mouth with a piece of bread.
"Shut the hell up, Blue!" The girl snapped. "You'll give us away!" Her hair was wild from all the running they had done, strands stuck up and her face was flushed pink.
The was a muffled curse before the girl, now Blue, spat out the bread. "Well I'm sorry, but you'll have to be more specific next time." Her dark brown hair was matted to her forehead from sweating, and her blue eyes narrowed at her friend.
She shuffled, army crawling to where her friend was huddled into the corner. The brick wall was cool against her exposed skin.
Her friend didn't reply to her retort, she was listening. Her eyes were closed in concentration.
Blue stuck out her hand in front of her face, waving it. Nothing. She snapped her fingers as loud as she could, and her friend's eye twitched.
"Hello, it's m-" Her voice was cut off by the bread being stuffed back into her mouth. She muttered around it before taking a bite out of the stale food. There was an audible swallow. Blue leaned onto her friends shoulder. "I was wondering after all this time-" She was cut off again by a piece of leather.
"If maybe you would like to meet.." She drawled slowly after removing the leather from her mouth.
She sucked in another breath, ready to continue when the other girl spoke.
"I will throw you to those patrols out there, Blue. Shut the hell up, or I will be more creative with my approach." The edge of her voice had a country twang to it. Blue scooted away from her, eyes wide.
"Jeez, Beth," She mumbled, crossing her arms. "lighten up. We'll meet up with Jess and Chase at the penthouse, and everything will be okay."
Elizabeth opened her eyes and looked at her best friend. Her heavy eyeliner made her look intimidating, and her lavender hair, frizzy in some places and matted in others, gave vibrancy to the brick apartment they were hiding out in.
They had been rummaging in an abandoned book store, looking for enchanted books to level up their weapons when a bullet came soaring past Blue head, burying itself into the bookshelf beside her. She had yelled to run, and they ran for a few miles before finding this deserted apartment. They ran through the already opened door, and shut it. Someone had looted it before they had gotten there.
But it didn't matter any longer, what mattered was waiting until the patrols gave up on finding them, and killing them.
They had gotten separated from their other friends, Panda and Chase a while back. And had lost contact with them. Blue was adamant they were at the penthouse they had taken over awhile back.
Now, she raised an eyebrow at her friend. "I wouldn't be surprised if they were sucking each others faces behind the Noodle Shop dumpsters in China Town..." She muttered disdainfully, dark eyebrows knitting together.
A loud giggle emitted from the brunette next to her, and Blue slapped a hand over her own mouth. There was a loud crash from outside.
Tori looked at her incredulously, making a motion with her hands to go check the window. Blue shook her head wildly. No.
