I woke up to the rain pounding on my window. I was drenched in sweat and my clothes were sticking to me. God I hate summer weather. I looked over to see Alex still sleeping. I got up and walked downstairs to check on the dogs. As I was walking I stubbed my toe on the bedroom door, "OW!" I shouted. I looked back hoping Alex was still sleeping. Whew dodged that bullet. I had to be more careful and quiet considering its 3:00 in the morning. I wanted to text Sami, my best friend, but I knew she would be asleep. I made my way down the stairs and I walked into the sitting room. I looked at my dogs, Potato and Charlie, don't ask about the names. They seemed alright. While I'm down here I could probably get a glass of water. I trudged into the kitchen and got some water. I looked into the backyard and noticed something moving. What is that? I looked closer, I couldn't make out what it was, "Alex! come down here please!"
"What?! What's wrong?" I heard him say running down the stairs, I hadn't taken my eyes off the thing.
"What's that?" I asked pointing into the yard. Alex moved in closer to get a better look.
"I'm not sure. Hold on." He said walking towards the backdoor. He opened the door and stepped outside. I followed him.
"What is it?" I asked, my voice scratchy and dry. I wanted to follow him all the way outside but I decided it wasn't the best idea.
"It looks like a garbage bin." He said sounding rather uncertain. My heart was still beating. I turned on the back porch light. I completely forgot we had this. It flickered on and shined into the yard. The light was pretty dim but we could just make out what  the object was. Alex was right, it was just a garbage bin.
"See?" He asked. "Nothing to worry about." He gave me a hug and kiss and walked back upstairs to go to bed. I felt bad for waking him up for this.
