- Honestly, I've been hoping for the whole time that you are going to change. - pronounced Balith. Astonishment and curiosity sat out on Viktor's face, and he asked:
- Why, what do you think I should be like?
- Like me! I've always wanted a twin brother. And then at the same time we could be best friends too. - said Balith grinning.
- But wouldn't it be weird if I were just like you? - asked Viktor
- I don't think so. I love myself! Now then, Ave Me, I gotta go. And therewith Balith left.
Viktor was really astonished, he had never met such an unusual and strange expectation. Yet he felt that Balith had given they key right into his hands, by which he finally can build up such a friendship, that he had always wished. Later he had already become utterly acquainted with the thought, that the price of Balith's friendship is nothing else, but the loss of his own self...
While sitting on the bus he thought over the phases of the execution. 'The same-looking clothes won't be a problem, as we have more clothes that look alike... yep, I won't be able to wear glasses, but they aren't permanent anyway... his motor-coordination won't matter, as he has a specific way of walking... the style of speaking and behaviour is going to give itself, this won't be difficult either." When he arrived home, he put the clothes out of the wardrobe that looked like Balith's. He acknowledged smiling that they go together, and he can put them on the next day for school.
The next morning he put on those clothes, and while going to the bus stop, he was practising Balith's way of walking, and he collected his specific sayings. When he arrived at school, his friend from class, Áron had already been waiting for him at the door.
- Hiya Viktor! - greeted Áron
- Hey! - greeted Viktor back. He was trying to talk grinning for the whole time, like Balith did, besides he fixed on a point in the aula which he can stare at, so that he doesn't have to look into Áron's eyes, just like Balith.
- Did you do the Maths homework? - asked Áron with a chatty tone.
- I didn't care about it - answered Viktor, henceforward avoiding his friend's eyes.
- Why don't you look into my eyes while you are talking to me? This so much not you... - said Áron with a reproachful tone.
- Now then, I've got stuff to do. Ave Me! - said imperturbably Viktor, and patterning his way of walking to Balith's, he clomped into the classroom.
In the remaining part of the day Viktor was totally behaving like Balith: he was moving, talking and laughing like him. Balith noticed that during the day, and he was grinning widely anytime Viktor looked up at him from the ground floor. However the fact didn't avoid Viktor's attention, that it was pretty clear, Áron had realised what was going on. His suspicion proved to be the case right after school: Áron pulled him up at the bus stop:
- You're doing this because of him, right? You totally wanna become like him, huh? - asked reproachfully.
- I don't know what you are talking about. - answered Viktor grinning and avoiding the eye contact, in turn deep inside it was burning him how he was treating his friend.
- Well, good. Let it be then. Lose yourself, be like him, and by this way lose all of those, who like you for yourself. The ones, who can't accept who you are, those have never been and never will be your friends!
Viktor was silent... and was grinning, but not the way like before by then.
- Alright, don't say anything then. I think I got enough from you by this today. Please don't contact until you won't be what you were before again! Now then, bye! - said Áron and he got on the bus that had just arrived.
- His friend's words had a deep effect on Viktor, but after all he decided that if he had started it already, then he sees it through.
The days passed by, and there were even more complaints about Viktor from his friends. He followed Balith's pattern as long, till everyone turned away from him. At that point he thought he made enough sacrifices, and it's time to talk to Balith, what was next. This happened at the bus stop:
- Hiya Balith! - greeted Viktor
- Hey! - greeted Balith back - I saw you took my advice - said grinning.
- Yes. And what do you say? Can we be best friends by now? - asked trustingly Viktor, as he knew, out of Balith he had already lost everyone.
- HA-HA-HA-HA!! No! The whole thing was just a prank, it was SO good to watch it all! HA-HA-HA! - screamed Balith choking from laughter.
Viktor felt like as if he had been slapped. His face became increasingly pale, he felt like he was going to pass out. And then he looked at the laughing Balith and... pushed him in front of the bus.
