the boy rings her doorbell, needing to see her.

an older woman steps out, darkness ringing her blue blue eyes. but that doesn't matter. he came for her.

"she isn't here. she took a trip down to the shore, saying something about finding seaweed." the door shuts, and the boy disappears into his old rusty car, worrying for her more and more by the second.

doesn't she understand that he's been here all along? and how so he loves her, wants to protect her very being? but alas, she is foggy inside, and that same voice before screams to get her help, yet he cannot listen.

arms grip her waist from behind, and she slaps and kicks, not knowing it is him. apologizes. wants to tell him how she feels, but she knows it will be that much harder to float away in the end.

and she doesn't want that.

how would her parents feel when they knew her emotions, and blankness? don't think about any of it, her mind whispers into her ear.

"what would you need seaweed for?" another question she has no urge to answer.

she smiles softly. "to float away, of course."

"sometimes," his voice was shaky, "i really worry for you."

"and you shouldn't."
