The Last Straw

Choosing classes

     Ellie got to the front doors of the school a little more than a half of an hour early. She walked to the door and as she went to pull the metal handle it swung open towards her. She stepped back out of the way of the door and as she did that she looked up to see a woman with a name tag that said " student councilor Ms. Neal". Ellie looked up at the tall slender woman starting down at her. Then the woman spoke "why are you here so early dear?" Ellie was so scared to answer so she shrugged her shoulders. The woman spoke again " are you new" Ellie spoke in a nervous squeaky voice "yes ma'am" the woman replied with a chuckle and gave Ellie a pass that read..."all new students report one by one to the councilors office to get schedules at 8:45 thank you" Ellie looked around for any other students and no one was around to she went into the school building. Ellie had never been to the school before so she knew she would get lost. She noticed a map on the wall and searched for the councilors room and found it...room 345. She quickly memorized a route there and started walking. On her way there she saw all sorts of classrooms but one in particular got her attention. As she walked down the 200 hall she heard a loud bang she didn't pay any mind then another but louder she stopped and looked around bang....bang....bang getting louder and louder as she walked she turned the corner and and passed a chemistry class, geometry class, government class, and another class that didn't have a sign. She noticed the loud noise was coming from in there and she poked her head in to take a look at first she was scared because all she saw was guns and swords up against the wall. Then she saw a man in a green uniform walking around and then students in blue uniforms which made no sense because they didn't have a dress code. She then saw the man walking to the door and Ellie ran around the next corner and didn't look back. A little while later she came to the councilors office and the woman who gave the note to Ellie was sitting at the desk. Ellie knocked on the door, walked in , and said " is it okay if I am early?" The woman replied " yes sear sit down" Ellie sat down and the woman asked questions on what her favorite subject was and what classes Ellie wanted to take. Ellie replied " AP literature , honors math, AP government, and honors biology" the woman wrote them down and then said what two extra classes she wanted Ellie asked for a list the woman replied" Art, PE,Computer Tech, Robotics, Business Tech, and JROTC." Ellie asked what ROTC was and the woman explained and Ellie asked if that is what she saw at the end of the hall and the woman confirmed it was. Ellie made her decisions and said Robotics and JROTC.
