Back stage, behind the black curtain, was a table, recorder, and Ms. Darbus. The table held a script with big bold letters across it that read "My Cinderella Story, MS. DARBUS' COPY!" Ell walked onto back stage, shaking she picked up the script.
"Eliana Carol Smith," Ms. Darbus scowled
"That's me" Elle said
"What role are you auditioning for, Miss Smith" she asked
"Helen..."
"Please read from page 7, Helen's part" she announced
"Ok," Elle flipped through the thick packet to page 7, "I get it, I'll do the dishes, the cleaning, and you'll sit around all day doing absolutely nothing!!! I don't want to work all day, I'll do some chores, but you have to do the same!" On page 7 Helen was talking to her stepsister, Elle already read through the script, surely she'd get the part.
"Your lucky I'm not mother!!!" Ms. Darbus read.
"Marrissa can't you see that I'm avoiding talking to her! I'd rather live with your sister, if only she went to a college closer to here!"
"Scene. Please Eliana, sing the solo for Helen, page 20." The music started to play, it was soft yet powerful. The opening was long, nice.
"More or less, I am who I wish to be. Strong, with an instinct of fear. Why do you think so wrong of me, and make the rain fall harder. I can do whatever I please, cause you know it's the right thing..." The song was powerful, she sang it with all her heart, hoping it was enough. The lyrics filled her mouth and each breath felt like greatness.
"Brava! I will list the callbacks, if any, and casts lists, thanks you. DAREN THIRNINE!!!" She yelled for him to audition. Ell didn't have time to say good luck, but she was glad he was auditioning.

The brightness of the rising sun blinded her. The light came from the window in her room. Ell opened her eyes, all was blurred and soft. She took her glasses off the nightstand next to her and placed them behind her ears. She looked over across the room to the clock on the wall.
7:04 AM
Ell rose from the bed, stretched her arms, and wandered to her closet. The walk from her bed to the closet seemed like she was walking for miles. By the time she got to the closet, she remembered, school, cast list, and callbacks. Ell quickly grabbed a sweater and her black jeans. The pulled her hair into a tall ponytail. She packed her backpack and placed her new, blue, tennis shoes on her feet.
"Coming Mom! Don't leave!"
"I'm still here!" Her mom answered. Her Mother had dark hair with dark brown eyes. Her mom was Ell's best friend she could tell her anything.
Ell jumped into the car and buckled her seatbelt.
"How's Daren?" Her mom asked, "kissed you yet"
"No mom, and he's good" she answered.
"Hi Ell, Hi Mom" Jay entered the car. They were off to school for another normal day.
