With a growl of thunder, rain started pouring from the sky. Vaughn glanced at Rebekah, and then at Matthias. Vaughn whispered, "Where is he? Victoire said that Mikael would be here!"
Matthias reassured him, "Don't worry... She has never failed us. We have the trident. On this day, in this place, we cannot lose... We will beat him!"
As he spoke those words, a bolt of lighting shot across the sky, illuminating a tall, pale figure sitting on a slab of stone. Vaughn saw him, and the group advanced immediately. Mikael did not move; he spoke, and though the thunder above drowned out all other noises, Mikael's words pierced through the night.
"Time is a teacher that will ultimately end the lives of all that it teaches. Some refuse to learn from such a cruel thing, and thus are doomed to take the course over and over until they finally learn. The hatred spawned from the contempt of time is evident in the sorrow of a persons passing... This shrine is dedicated to those who have learned from time, and your demise here would embody that." He rose suddenly, and moved towards Vaughn, saying, "Your Family is nothing! You will all pale before my might!"
With that, Vaughn took the trident from Matthias' hands, and Mikael drew his blade. For one moment, the world stood still, as the two kings stared each other down, but that moment was shattered by the clashing of steel.
