Quinn

I was starting to think that everything about my life was a lie. My father was thousands of years old. my best friend was really my long lost sister Christian was my lover and I wasn't even the person that I thought I was.  " I'm so glad you're home Raquel." My father said break my train of thought. "Hold on a minute back up." Looking from my father to my best friend I couldn't see the resemblance, until i looked at her eyes. "How is this even possible. You can't be apart of this. Some one has exactly 30 seconds to tell me what the hell is going on."

" Look we can sit here and reminisce all day but you are in danger okay. " Cali said to me. "No I want , no I need some answers and I need them now. It's more than clear everyone else here is up to speed on my own well being except for me. So we're going to make time for this."  I needed to stand my ground on this. My life for the past week and a half hasn't been my own anymore and I didn't like it.  "Quinn you're going to leave, we're going to talk about this when we know you're safe and you're going to like it. We dont have time for this. Christian here's the name and address to my connect in Chelan. Get there. Tell her Raquel sent you, she wont know my current name but she'll give you a place to stay and help you lay low until i get there."  she told us.            " Wait, you're not coming with us, but what about Sebastian. Won't he hurt you. We are not just leaving you here by yourself Cali." "You can and you will, besides I'm the only one that can get Sebastian to stand still long enough to even listen. He's in his mood to play and I'm going to show him this is one game he wont be winning."

Cali walked outside without  so much as a second glance back. I just found out she was my sister and she wants to go and get herself killed by Christian's crazy brother. "We're really just going to let her stay here by herself?" I was really hoping that this was a dream and I would wake up soon. But I knew that would never happen. " We have to." Christian said. " She'll be fine. If she's made it this far she can handle herself. "

" Go pack up somethings. I  don't think we'll be coming back here. "

Christian

Knowing Raquel was alive was a major game changer. It meant that we actually had a chance to beat Sebastian at his own game before it even starts.

"Brother,  come on we haven't had any fun in so long." Sebastian begged me. He loved his games even as a young boy. They started out small. Simple things like races, but at some point as we got older things changed. I'm not sure when it started,  him wanting to involve others. Maybe that was always him.  Maybe I missed the signs of when my brother grew to be so dark, but i also didn't do anything to stop him.  "Sebastian please. What you're asking to do. I can't, i won't be apart of this." I refused to go on pretending as though everything was fine with what we were doing. People's lives were at stack. I'm not sure Sebastian had it in him to actually physically harm anyone but i didn't want to find out.  " Oh but Christian you'll  love this one. I haven't even told you the best part. Raquel and  Anna want to play. Isn't that exciting brother.  Doesn't that make you want to play. The stacks are high and the winner walks away with what they desire most in this world.  All you have to do is tell one little lie. Ill take care of the rest."

The look on his face is one I'll never forget. It reminded me of the same people they tell you to stay  away from. You know the one's that get off on others pain with a smile on their face. The look that's tells you something bad's gonna happen whether you're apart of it of\r not. whether i helped him or not i would be held accountable. How he managed to talk those two into playing his sick games I'll never know but what i do know is that i needed to put an end to them before something truly horrible happens. "I'll play Sebastian just leave them out of this."

"I'm all packed i guess." I told Christian and my father as I came down the stairs. I wanted them to say no well stay and deal with this head on, were not going to leave her here to fight Sebastian head on. But it never happened. " She'll be fine. She's a tough girl and shes right if anyone can get him to stop long enough to give you a chance to leave its her." Christian said to me taking my bags. " I just dont feel right leaving her. She's my best friend and as of a few minutes ago shes my sister too. How can you expect me to just walk away like this Christian?" " She won't be here alone. I'm staying behind with her." my father said breaking the silence. " But dad.." " I thought I lost her and here she's been all along all this time. I know you'll be safe with Christian I'd trust him with my own life but your sister needs me here. Go and we'll catch up to you guys. " I'd never seen my dad look so determined. He always seemed so laid back but i guess if someone was threatening my kids I'd go into super parent mode too. Maybe he's always been this way and i never paid attention to it, i was so focused on my life i never noticed dad was missing something in his. "Okay. But promise me you'll both come find us. I can't lose either of you." " I promise sweetheart."

That was a lie. The only lie he's probably ever told me. The thing about promise's is once you say i promise you've already broken that promise whether you meant to or not. Dad told me that. I should have known that those very words would be coming back to haunt me. I just never thought that they would be coming from him.
