Hey guys
i wrote this poem for a competition in grade 7... i think... and it came second place.
Anyway please read it... its about the men and women who serve in the australian defence forces.

TRUE HEROES
So many people take every day for granted by forgetting the men and women fighting to keep their country safe from people who wish to do harm. I will not forget them or their proud families. I will not forget the pain they go through, nor their courage, commitment, bravery, strength and perseverance to succeed, protect, prevent and rescue not only those in need but their country.
I will not forget all the thoughts that go through their heads on every mission or even during training. I will not forget their pride and joy they get for a simple thankyou or even them knowing that in everything they do they are protecting not only their families, friends, forgettable faces but their country and this great land that made them who they are. I will not forget about them because everywhere I look I see not only happy faces but free people, I see Australians that can be all that they can because they are safe.
When I see a man or woman from the Navy, Army or Air Force I see not only pride, honour, bravery, courage and commitment but a hero. Heroes don't always have to wear a cape or have superhuman powers, if you want to see a hero look at the men and women in the services, they are true everyday heroes that us Australian citizens forget about. We worry about small things like what to wear to a party, they would worry about if they are capable to take on the next challenge they face. I will not forget the men and women who sacrificed themselves for this country and our way of life. I will not forget the men and women who got wounded and the soldiers who cannot walk anymore, see, smell, feel, think or even enjoy doing something they once loved. I will never forget the Australian Defence Forces.
