Hunter smiles at me sheepishly.
"Hey Cerise," he says. His eyes suddenly adjust to the dark and I see them flit to Daring, who is standing over me protectively. It's kind of annoying- I am perfectly capable of protecting myself, especially after everything with Gossamer- but I lean into him. "Hey... Daring."
"Hi," Daring and I say at the same time, and it's hard to contain my smile, and when Daring grins down at me, I grin back. Hunter shifts from foot to foot, obviously uncomfortable and annoyed. My eyes return to his.
"So," I start.
Hunter cuts me off. "You know what, don't worry." Then he turns and stalks away. The moment he turns the corner Daring and I burst into silent laughter.
"What's his problem?" Daring asks, which makes me laugh harder. It shouldn't be funny, because after all, we know exactly what his problem is.
