It was only the darkness that hid me. The window spat in the cold air strongly and painfully as I sat in the corner of the room behind the masters piano.

Fear was my main enemy, the feeling consumed me. It wasn't easy to sit here and listen to the heavy footsteps coming from the downstairs kitchen, plates were smashing and chairs were dragging against the ground as he roamed the room in anger.

I dug my face into my arms and felt the warmth of my blood smear my face, the cuts on my arms were just another reminder of what my life has come to.

Something brushed against my shoulder and I yelped and turned, my heart racing to the beat of the wind. Thankfully it was only the torn curtains.

The night was endless, hours past but still the wind blew and still his footsteps smacked against the floor. I no longer could tell if the noises I heard was the racket downstairs or simply thunder. I didn't dare look up to check for lightning, I can't move. I swear he would hear me.

The footsteps stopped.

Suddenly his voice pounded though my ears like a vibration and the world froze to listen to him speak.

"This is only the beginning!" He shouted up to me and began traveling up the staircase to seek me out.
