Adriana P.O.V
I sit there and I look up to the waxing gibbous, blazing in the starless night sky letting me know that it would be the full moon soon. A small breeze passes over me causing a strand of my hair to flick over my face. I can feel the cold metal of my 9mm gun touch against my skin. Reassuringly I rest my hand on it feeling the engraved writing underneath my fingertips. The guns resting place sits in the waistband of my jeans securely tucked away from sight. The gun and I have become one over the past years making me rely on it like a lifeline. It’s got me out of many bad situations, like airport security; not the best place to go waltzing in with a gun.
I take my hand away feeling the bitter cold and quickly wrap it around my hot coffee. I look towards the nightclub that is still full of life down the street so that my mind stayed on task. I could feel adrenaline trickling into my blood stream making me giddy. Glancing at my watch I read that we have 10 minutes left to wait. Impatiently I feel for my gun again.
Hearing a manly chuckle, I whip my head around to see Zak laughing at me; his piercing blue eyes filled with amusement. I scowl at him.
“What are you laughing at?” I snap at him with my eyebrow raised. He shrugged before throwing me a look.
“Nothing really. I guess it was your facial expression and the way that you are fidgeting around.” Flashing me a full watt smile I try to glare at him but fail. So instead, I playfully punch his arm wiping the smile straight off his face; thus putting a smile on my face.
Zak has dirty blond hair clipped short so it doesn’t distract him when he’s working. Bright sky- blue eyes that have broken many women’s heart. His body is toned; broad shoulders and six pack the result of many hours in the gym. His tight t-shirt not giving justice to what’s promised beneath. The only flaw in his looks is a jagged scar leading from his ear down past his shirt; but if anything, it adds to his bad boy look.
I shift my eyes from his smirking face back to scanning the gathering crowd outside the club. Not finding the target, I take another sip of my cooling drink.
Loud music vibrates through the doors and windows of empty shops down to our deserted end of the street. Florescent lights flood out of the entrance of the club like leaking ink leaving the paved path vibrant blues and reds.
Glancing at Zak I notice he’s started reading the file for the tenth time tonight, reaching over I snatch it out of his hands and put it under my bum so I was sitting on it before his hands could grab it back. His hands still in position of how he had been holding the file, his eyes are in playful slits at me but I give him my sweetest apologetic smile and look at him through my dark eyelashes.
“You know I will go and get it.” He wiggles his eyebrows at me suggestively while smirking. I fake gag and he flips me the bird.
“You finished playing a game you know you can’t win,” I whisper in his ear seductively letting my breath fan out against his skin trailing a finger down his arm making him shiver in return. He takes an audible gulp. “You know that I always win.”
He rolls his eyes knowing he’s lost and cross his arms over his broad cheat in defeat. His eyes search through the people queuing outside the club seeking our next victim. His eyes light up causing me to follow his line of vision, seeing our target walk out of the club Zak slowly stands up from the metal chairs we were sat at while leaving a tip for our drinks.
“Come on, we have a job to do.” He grimly looks at me. I adjust my gun so that it sits perfectly in my jeans and move to stand next to Zak.
I look to see that our target has moved across the street to our side and is walking our way. Shit. I look at Zak and I’m unnerved by the panic shining through his eyes as well. I quickly pull Zak towards the table where we were sat, and jerk his hand in to both of mine, trying to look like a couple just out for late night drinks. I look at him as he is still looking at the target so that we don’t lose track of her, it was then that I smelt her. She really did smell wonderful just like the tales say. I took a deep breath, filling my lungs with the smell of the winder wind and the night sky, calming me. I look around at Zak and see that it has had the same effect on him as well.
She walked into the café, making the bell ring out that was attached to the door. I glanced over at Zak a grin breaking out over my face, he returning it with a toothy grin of his own.
“Lucien is going to be so happy!” I couldn’t stop smiling and either could Zak, knowing that Lucien, our alpha was going to be so happy with us. I couldn’t wait to report back to him. We followed her all the way back to her apartment, knowing that now we had to keep a close eye on her now, knowing what she could potentially do for our kind. We call Lucien while outside her apartment.
“And?” I hear his deep, powerful voice through the phone that is placed at Zak’s ear.
“We found her.” I hear the excitement in his voice, while I stand next to him trying to control my giddiness waiting to hear the next order from Lucien.
