My alarm clock blared the noise I hated most. I opened my eyes, and tried to look at the time. I could barely keep my tired eyes open, for they were blinded by the light. My mom walked in, "Hey, Brenton. Get the hell up before your late. And don't forget to walk with Audrey today." She said in a serious yet giggly voice. My mom is weird; she could be yelling at me for anything, and we'd both sit there and laugh.
"Good morning to you too, mom. What's for breakfast?" I ask barely awake. At this point, I might as well be counted dead. I have no motivation to get out of bed, so I sit there for a minute rubbing my eyes. I knew she was working today, for I could hear the clanking of her heels on the hardwood throughout the downstairs. My dog, Layla, came running up the stairs and jumped up onto my bed. I picked her up and cradled her in my arms, almost like a baby. "Good morning to you too." I said trying not to laugh. Layla was basically my dog, while Blaise was the family dog. I have to walk Layla, feed her, play with her, and make sure she's healthy. It's okay though, because my dad pays the vet bills.
"Come on Brenton! I have to go to work and I do NOT want to be late." I hear my mom yell. My sister and my brother have already left because they were going to a breakfast restaurant with my dad. I didn't want to go because I needed as much sleep as possible if I was going to be with Audrey all day. I don't want her to see the bad in me. My mom and I walked out of the front door and she turned around to lock it while I started walking down the driveway to get to the sidewalk. Our garage is in the front of our house so the pathway to the front door and the driveway meet up. "Bye mom." I yelled so she could hear. I looked at her and stood there for a second waving my hand.
"Bye, Brenton. Go straight to Audrey's so you can walk with her to the bus stop." She yelled back while walking to the car.
I walked down the long curvy road that I have lived on almost all my life, and I turned left onto Seneca Square. Seneca square was the main part of the neighborhood. It was where the four major neighborhood streets met and conjoined. Audrey lived off of Russell Branch Dr, the most expensive street in my neighborhood. Everyone was envious of the people that had the opportunity to live on Russell Branch. Audrey's house was a stone house with huge windows in the front, and a huge wooden door that was painted black, and it has a glass stained window on it.
I was lost in my thoughts and all of a sudden I was ringing the door bell. I looked at my watch and there was approximately eleven minutes until the bus arrived. Mr.K was never late and he was never early. He was always right on time.
"Hey, Brenton. I'm glad you're walking with me. I'm still trying to learn my way around this neighborhood." Audrey said as she shut her front door. We walked down the stairs that went from her front porch all the way down to the sidewalk.
"Yeah, it's just too big. I've lived here since I was little and I still get lost sometimes." I said with a little laugh, almost as if I was flirting. 'Stop yourself, Brenton. You're only thirteen.' I whispered to myself. You know, they say that talking to yourself is a sign of a healthy mind.
"I'm sorry, what'd you say?" Audrey asked, kind of confused.
"Huh, oh nothing I was talking to myself." I said. She nodded her head and we continued walking down the street. "Well, here's the bus stop." I said cheerfully.
