Seth was true to his word. He walked me to class all morning. Today has beed great. But now it's lunch and all afternoon I'll be walking by myself. Seth told me to find someone to walk me, but I haven't talked to anyone, and nobody has come up to me except to try and flirt, where Seth is in the bathroom and I'm waiting for him. It always ends the same, Seth comes out and I run to his side, saying, "Sorry, but I have to go". Seth would ask me if I was okay, followed by a slight nod by me.
Seth helps me with my lunch , then hands me my tray and leads me to an empty table. I don't hear any noise beside us, so atleast I'm guessing it's empty. "So, I noticed you haven't made any friends yet?" Seth asks.
"Uh, I guess you'd already've met them by now if I did," I reply.
He chuckles. "Well now's your chance."
"Huh?" What is he talking about? But then I hear footsteps coming our way. I think there're four of them. Oh crap, I'm startin to freak out. I shrink in my chair a little.
"Hey," says a girl, "We see thqt you two are new here and just wanted to introduce ourselves." She sounds all bubbly. I'm guessing she's the one who convinced them to come.
"That's really nice of you. Well I'm Seth, and this is my little sister Aubrey," Seth introduces.
"Hey," they say in unison.
"Okay, so you two aren't a couple," a boy asks. My ears pirk up. What? They thought we were together?...Well..I guess it makes sence. I do cling to him when we walk. But it's because I need a guide and there're so many kids here.
Seth laughes. "No."
"Then why does she cling to you all the time?" the same boy asks.
"Oh, well she needs a guide and there're all these kids running around."
"Why does she need a guide?" a different boy asks.
"She's blind," Seth says matter-of-factly.
"Oh," they say in unision (again).
I look down and start eating.
"Well..why'd you guys move here? Parents get a new job or something?" a girl asks.
"How about if Aubrey answeres that one," Seth suggests, evily.
I scowl at him, but he just laughs. "I..I was..I wasn't t-treated right," I stutter. Man, I'm so nervous!
"How?" says one of the boys. They're not teasing me for being shy? I think I like them.
"Dude, it's obvious she was bullied. And I'm sorry. I wish they didn't do that," the first boy that spoke up says.
"You couldn've done anything," I say quietly.
"Yeah, well..." Just then, I realjze the amazing smell coming off of him, and I freeze. Is he..my..mate? 'I don't know, if we could see him, then I'd be able to tell you," my wolf, Sophie, says. I inwardly groan. Well, atleast I don't have to act crazy around him. Wait! does he know? I bet he doesn't, I haven't looked towards them yet. I'll do that now.
I look back towards where his voice is coming from. "It's fine. Really. I had Seth to help me through it. So don't worry," I say. then I look back to my food and keep eating.
He takes a moment to answer, but when he does, it's what I've been expecting. "Mate." It's quiet, but I hear it.
'Hum?" I ask.
"Uh, nothing. I was just thinking that you're right, atleast your brother was there. You're lucky, a lot of people would leave their siblings for popularity."
