Chapter 1

Alexia POV

It all started when I was just a freshman in high school. I knew that this was the beginning of a new life for me so I had to prepare myself for all the things that come along with it. And this was the one day that would change my life tremendously.

It was the beginning of the school year and I decided to ride the bus with my friend Cree and walk home because my bus was late every day that week and I wasn't patient enough to wait. I would walk home from her bus stop because I only lived two streets over.

"Watch out for them boys." Cree joked as we exited the bus seeing that there were two boys walking the same direction I would be going.

"Girl pray for me." I said laughing while walking off. I wasn't really worried about them boys anyways I was just trying to get home. My mind was blank without any thought in my mind just focused on getting home until all of a sudden I receive a tap on the shoulder. I turn around in shock and that's when I saw him. I was mesmerized by smooth brown skin covering his tall and muscular body; I could tell he was an athlete. I observed that he had waves indicating he had good hair and I looked down to his great smile made with his perfect lips. I was stunned.

"Hello?" He said breaking me out of my daze.

"Oh hey." I replied curious to what he must have wanted.

"Um are you a freshman?"

"Yes." I replied quickly.

"Oh well I'm a sophomore. You're a cute freshman." He mentioned putting his head down with a smile.

I couldn't believe it was this fine boy really telling me that I was cute. "Thank you." I blushed getting butterflies in my stomach.

"So um what's your name?" He added.

"I'm Alexia. And you?"

"That's a pretty name. I'm Donovan. It was nice meeting you Alexia." He said waving as he walked back to his friend.

"Nice meeting you too, Donovan." I responded smiling and continued walking home.

The rest of the walk home I just kept replaying when just happened over and over in my head. "Did this just happen?" I thought to myself.

As soon as I got home I text Cree and told her everything that happened. Cree was my best friend in the whole world. We been friends since 7th grade and had so many great times together and we tell each other everything. She was just excited about the situation as I was.

"Girl I told you about them boys" she said laughing.

"He was cute too but I'm not trying to be desperate and think anything about it just because he called me cute he was probably just being nice." I said.

She agreed with me and we continued to talk about school and old memories we shared.

~

That was Friday and once Monday came I got ready for school and made my way to my bus stop. I didn't really talk to anyone who rode my bus so I sat in the front and listened to my music. When the bus stopped at the third stop there he was. We made eye contact with each other and when he realized it was me he helped himself in sitting next to me.

"I didn't know you rode this bus." He said shocked.

"Yeah, I just ride in the morning and ride home with my friend on that other bus." I explained.

"Oh that's what I do too." He added.

The conversation grew silent for a few seconds.

"You're anti-social."

"What? How am I anti-social?" I asked.

"You don't talk much."

"Well I don't really talk much until I get to know a person." I pointed out to him.

"Guess what tho?" I said full of excitement.

"What?" He asked.

"Tomorrow is my birthday. What you getting for me?" I joked.

"What you want?" He asked.

"Nothing but you can get me some skittles." I suggested.

"Already I got you."

We had small talk and before we knew it, it was time to exit the bus to enter the school.

"I'll see you around Alexia." Him saying goodbye to me.

Once I got in the school I found my friends and we headed to the locker room. I told Cree all about the little chat on the bus as we walked down the hallway. And I look up and see him walking down the hallway towards us. I quickly pointed him out to my friends tell them who he was. They all except for Cree said he was alright but I know them hating bitches were lying. Donovan was so attractive and he was just my type.

I couldn't wait until after school when I could see Donovan again. Yes, I'll admit I might have a little crush on him but nothing serious. I wasn't trying to get caught up into a guy and getting hurt. Many of my family members have preached to me about not letting them little boys get in my head. But I was a smart girl and had a good head on my shoulders to fall for games. So after school when I got on the bus with Cree I tried to not search for him to seem like I was actually looking for him. When I got off the bus and looked around I noticed that he wasn't even on the bus. I felt dumb getting all excited to see this boy I just met but I got my hopes up for nothing. Guess I'll see him tomorrow I thought trying to look on the bright side.
