(Jenn'ys POV)
"Hey Jenny get ready, we're going to be late for brunch," Lily called up to me.
"Coming," I shouted back. Today, Lily and Rufus planned a brunch because they had some big news or something.
All of these galas and events seemed to blend together in my mind. I live in the the Upper East Side with my father (Rufus), Lily (dad's girlfriend), and Eric (Lily's son). The world I live in is highly superficial, extremely expensive, and sometimes exhausting. You see, I go to a school where everyone's gossip is spread like wildfire through a website called "Gossip Girl."
Having a private life in the Upper East Side is like wearing a pair of last years Louboutins... just not gonna happen. I try to stay grounded and keep my Brooklyn roots, but that isn't always easy. Me especially because I happen to be queen of Constance (my school). A title so honorly given to me by none other than Blair Waldorf. She was the old queen and in my opinion she's the wicked witch of the upper east. Of course, it doesn't help that she has the infamous Chuck Bass as her boyfriend. Those two can destroy a repuation with a snap of their fingers.
Besides Chuck and Blair who I consider to be part of the group that we've seem to have formed, there's also my brother Dan. Dan is a lot of things but quiet, is not one of them. If you get him started on a topic, he won't stop until he stuttered his way to the end. Words are his strong point, with him being a writer and all. He has had a few works published and is now currently studying at NYU.
Adding to the list of people I associate with, is Serena Van Der Woodsen. She is one of the top socialites of Manhattan. You can catch her at any event or fashion show. You can also sometimes catch her in guys' beds. I'm not trying to say she gets around, but if her vagina had a password, it'd be "password." Of course, Serena isn't all parties and boys, she has some redeaming qualities. for instance, she was my brother's first great love. Also, without her I'm not sure my family would be where we are today. Props to you Serena.
Last but not least, there's my dear friend Nathaniel Archibald. Nate and I had had our fair share of flings in the past. I think I was his girlfriend for about 5 seconds. Nate though, Nate is different. H isn't really into all the money that is given to him. I think that's why I liked him in the first place. I'm totally messing with you, it's because he is hotter than an Abercrombie model. The whole "wanting to earn my way throught life" thing was totally a bonus.
As for me, I'm Jenny Humphrey. I dress a bit edgy, wear dark makeup, and live on the reckless side of life. All in all, I'm a rebelious teenager who doesn't know what to do with all of the money given to her. Social events like the one I'm about to attend bore me. Nothing seems to bring me thrill anymore. It's times like this where I wish I could trade places with someone else for a while. Maybe live a different life, for just a little.
(Taylor's POV)
"Fuck Ben hurry up! We have to check into this hotel before any paps see us. I was informed they don't know we are coming yet, so let's keep it that way," I snapped.
Ben laughed and grabbed his tea. We had made a quick stop at a starbucks before checking into the Empire Hotel in NYC. My band (The Pretty Reckless) and I were going to be staying in New York City for three months to record our newest record, "Going to Hell." I know I'll miss my LA lifestyle but the band comes before everything.
The rest of the band (Mark and Jamie) were going to meet up later because they wanted to do some sightseeing. I had been to the city millions of times, I didn't need to see the sights. As for Ben, he just does whatever I do. He's also pretty much in charge of me when my manger isn't around.
Considering I'm only 17, someone has to be my parent. We all know it won't be my mom. My dad apparenlty died when I was little and now it's just my mother, me, and my sister (Sloane). My sister Sloane looks nothing like me, which didn't stop me from telling her she was adopted when we were little. I haven't seen my family in a while though. My mom makes routine visits to LA to check up, but she has been cool with leaving me be.
You see, my band has gotten international success so now, I'm either touring or writing. I never even went to a real high school. Which is good, because I'd eat everyone alive. I'm not the nicest person. Getting on my bad side is the worst mistake anyone could make.
We finally reached the hotel. There were a couple paparazzi already waiting for us.
"Shit," I said aloud. Ben opened the black Range Rover's door and led me to the entrance. Many paps were yelling out things. I wasn't in the mood to pose for pictures so I ignored them and kept walking. A five hour plane ride did not make me the happiest person lets just say. We finally reached the door and a doorman greeted us with a smile. He helped shield me away from the photagraphers.
"Thanks," I smiled at him. He was an older man with a burrly white moustache. He reminded me of my grandpa. "Hey Ben can you check us in? All that Starbucks made me have to pee."
Ben nodded and I headed for the restrooms. I began to notice my surroundings once I was more calm. The lobby of the hotel was beautiful. The floors were marble, and chandeliers hung everywhere. Whoever decorated this place, was pretty good at their job. I finally found the bathroom. Before I opened the door, a guy with black curly hair looked at me. Oh no he must recognize me.
"Jenny don't you think that outfit is highly innaporiate?" the guy scolded.
I furrowed my brow in confusion, "Excuse me? Who gives you the right to judge how I dress? By the way, do you know who I am?" I barked.
The guy looked dumbfounded, "I'm sorry you just look a lot like my sister, Jenny. I um like the way you dress in fact. I think um all women should dress like you."
"Uh huh," I said and turned to relieve my bladder. I finally got to pee. I went to wash my hands and when I reached for the soap, another hand brushed against mine. "I'm sorry," I stammered. The girl looked up at me and I looked at her. We both gasped at the same time.
This girl was a spitting image of me. Of course, she wasn't as gothic but fairly the same. I looked into her frosty blue eyes, similar to my own. They showed the same coldness and boredom that mine usually shown. With both our mouths still shaped into small o's, she finally spoke.
"Do I know you?" she asked. Did she? Maybe she had seen me on tv or on the internet.
"That depends, do you listen to rock music?" I snorted.
She nodded her head, "Yeah, my dad's actually a semi famous rockstar from the 90's. He was the lead singer of the band Lincoln Hawk. Me though, I like 90's rock and a couple other classics," she proclaimed.
"Hm, pretty cool. Same goes for me, I love 90's bands and a lot of the classic stuff too. Do you know who I am?"
She shook her head no, "Well do you know who I am?" I smirked, this girl isn't shy. I stuck out my hand and she took it in hers.
"My name is Taylor Momsen, queen of rock and lover of good music," I introduced.
She smiled, "I'm Jenny Humphrey, queen of Constance and also lover of good music."
I let go of her hand, "Now to address the elephant in the room, why do we look the same? Are you some weird fan who copies my look exactly?"
She laughed, "Listen lady I ddidn't even know who you were until about 1 minute ago. I'm not coppying anything. Besides, I don't copy looks, I create them. I'm a fashion designer."
"Well that's good. I sing for the band The Pretty Reckless. You should come see our show tonight. I want to show my band how similar we look. You're a pretty cool girl and I don't come across those very often," I gave her a wink and began to walk out. As I opened the door, a girl with an ugly headband was walking in.
"Jenny what the hell are you wearing?" the girl laughed.
I groaned, "Jenny is in there." The girl looked taken back. I just kept walking until I found Ben sitting with his legs crossed in the lobby. "Can we please go to our room now," I said impatiently. Ben nodded and he led me to the elevator.
(Jenny's POV)
"Jenny who was that?" Blair asked me.
"Huh? Oh, that's Taylor Momsen. She's famous."
Blair snorted, "Yeah well she needs to get another stylist, that girl is a mess. She is more gothic than you little J."
I rolled my eyes, "How many times do I have to tell you? I'd rather you call me Jenny."
Blair shrugged and went into a stall. I finally joined my family in the room we booked for brunch. After piling food on my plate, my father stood up. "Everyone, I have an announcemet. Lily and I are engaged."
The whole table errupted into applause. I was sort of expecting this was the surprise. Not for nothing, they are long lost loves trying to rekindle an old flame. It was just a matter of time before my dad put a ring on it. While everyone cheered, I couldn't help but feel angry. This means if something ever happens, my dad can't bail on Lily. She won't just be a girlfriend, she'll be his wife. Knowing Lily's track record though, they won't be married for long.
Everyone was making idle chit chat while I sat bored and unamused.
Shocker.
"Jenny, how is school going?" Nate asked me. My mood suddenly became a lot better. Nate is the only human being in this world who can make me truly happy. I don't know if that is good or bad, thing. He is my weakness.
I gave him a wide smile, "pretty good. Being queen is always challenging but I'm doing pretty good with my schoolwork. How's college?"
Nate smiled. He seemed surprised I actually cared about him too. No one we know ever cares enough to take interest in you, so when someone does you savor it. "Good. I've been getting really involved on campus. Hey Jen what do you say we do something tonight? I have a free night and I feel like we haven't really had a chance to hang out."
I nodded, "Okay but I acutally promised a frien I'd go see her band. She's playing at this club, you wanna go?"
Nate's whole face lit up, "Sure! I'll pick you up at 9." I smiled and continued eating my food. I now have to plan the perfect outfit for tonight, and I should also look up some of Taylor's songs. It would be rude if I knew literally nothing about her band.
I was currently waiting in my apartment's lobby for Nate. He was always late. After researching Taylor's band, I leaned that she has an amazing voice. Her music is something I can get in to. I also learned that Taylor is quite the wild child. She has no filter and weas what she wants. In some ways, I see myself in her.
"Hey Jen I'm here. Sorry I know I'm late but there was traffic." Nate looked good. He was wearing a leather jacket over a white button up shirt with tie. a pair of loose jeans hugged his hips and black converse on his feet. Nate's usually touselled hair style made me want to run my fingers through it. Like I said, Nate makes me weak. I feel like a little girl when I'm with him.
"That's okay, she doesn't come on till 10," I smiled and looped my arm with his. Nate nodded and we headed for the town car.
(Taylor's POV)
"Taylor you're on in five," Sean shouted. I nodded and flicked my cigarette butt. I stood up and took a deep breath. I heard the introduction of Hit Me Like a Man and made my way to the stage. I grasped the mic in my hand and shouted, "New York, how the fuck are you guys doing tonight? We're The Pretty Reckless and we are very excited to be here."
As I sung through all of my songs, I searched the crowd to try and find Jenny. Finally, my eyes laid upon her. She was wearing a short skirt and white top with stockings. Her outfit was paired with a leather jacket and high heels. She is like the Chanel version of me. I'm hard, she's soft.
All of a sudden, I had an idea. At the end of Factory Girl I ran to Sean and whispered in his ear. He smirked and headed for the crowd. Moments later I said into the mic, "How many girls here have had a bad breakup? Have you ever been so fucking pissed at a guy that you want to kill him? Well, this song is for all the girls out there. I think I need some backup dancers though". I turned to Sean and he gave Jenny and another random girl a little push.
Jenny stumbled but regained her balance. Both girls joined me on stage. the one was screaming and already taking her damn top off. Girl you need to chill. Jenny seemed to not know what to do. The band started playing and I turned to Jenny. Her eyes grew large as I grabbed at the hem of her shirt. I whispered, "relax" and she nodded.
I pealed her top off and then turned to the other girl. I wiggled my finger beckoning her to come over. she started dancing with Jenny while I sang the intro to the song. "This song is called Goin Down." I let the music flow through me.
Hey there father, I don't wanna bother you
But I've got a sin to confess
I'm just 16 if you know what I mean, do you mid if I take of my dress?
I lifted my top and flashed the crowd. The whole place erupted in screams. I mentally laughed at the effect I had on them. Jenny was still dancing with the other girl. I could tell she wasn't really happy with grinding up against some random girl so I took Jenny's hand and spun her around. I was now to her back. I put my hand that wasn't holding the mic on her waist and started grinding my body against hers. Jenny's body was tense. I only just heard her say, "What if gossip girl sees this?"
Hm, what's gossip girl?
Hi guys, so this is my new story. I had this idea for a while but didn't think I should start it cause of my other stories. I hope everyone enjoys this. Please comment and let me know what you want to happen because I'm not writing this for me. Thank you :)
