Snow

Small white flecks were falling from the sky, like glitter from the heavens. The night was cold. A blanket of pure white snow, the first of the season, laid over everything, making the night more beautiful than ever imaginable.
The only thing more beautiful than the snow was her smile. It was about 12:45 am when we went walking. She wanted to go play outside. See, snow was her favorite thing. She was my favorite thing, so I agreed.
We stayed out in the winter wonderland until almost 2 am, when our fun was interrupted by worried friends trying to get ahold of us. Apparently we had been gone too long.
Before they started texting though, I had never been happier. I had never seen her happier, either. Her smile, her eyes, her demeanor. It all changed that night. She went from lonely to the happiest girl in the world, and I'm not sure if I'm the one that caused it, or if it was the snow.
Either way, I had never seen such a radiance in her eyes and it was beautiful. That night was the best night I've had in a long while. Not because of the snow, but because of her.
We decided to go walk around, instead of just playing in the yard and parking lot of the apartment complex we were spending the night at.
The ice made the road pretty slick, so on our way downtown, we were sliding and laughing so hard that my sides hurt. She had the most gorgeous laugh. I wanted to hear her laugh for the rest of my life.
Then she bent down and scooped up some snow. All I could think was, "Oh shit," before she formed it into a ball and tossed it at me. I turned and the small globe of white powder exploded on my back. She laughed again, which then fueled me to throw one back, knowing it'd make her laugh harder and longer.
Everything I did that night was to make her smile. I loved her smile. I loved her.
