SECOND CHANCE
The cloudy smoke billowing,
blinding me
and shrouding the vices of this world.
I was blinded and
couldn’t see the evil ways of
the people therein.
Alas! I have been living in iniquity
to my own ignorance.
I didn’t know that
what I thought was right
was actually wrong.
Oh blind me!
Lord,
let the wind
come blow this blinding smoke away.
Let this cotton be removed from my eyes
so that I may see more than am seeing now
and to know to what extent the damage had been wreaked.
I have eaten the forbidden fruit,
I’ve seen my nakedness,
I’ve been deceived by the serpent.
Lord, give me a sign by writing on the wall,
give my Adam and Eve a second chance,
reinstate me back into my garden of Eden.
