The moon,mankind's source of light at night,was destroyed a year ago by a mysterious creature which rendered the moon into a crescent shape forever.
This creature then became a teacher at Kunugigaoka Middle School in Class 3-E,a class for failures of the school.

Yes,in truth,the E-class students have graduated already,unable to kill Koro sensei.
Koro sensei,the octopus creature able to travel at speed mach-20,then retired as a teacher at Kunugigaoka and spent the rest of his days travelling around the world for pleasure.
But little does he know that there were many other schools in Japan that created an 'E-class' form of system,just like Kunugigaoka.
Koro-sensei then,after being forced by Asano the principal of Kunugigaoka,applied for a job and became the teacher of 2-E at Kinohazaki Middle School.
The assassination lessons began then..

It was the start of summer.
As usual, The chirping of cicadas was always heard outside the classroom. Nothing unusual happened.
Everything was just normal like it was supposed to be. Well, except for the fact that 2-E's homeroom teacher was a freakin yellow octopus.
The yellow octopus or so called as Koro-sensei entered the noisy classroom and everyone's cold stares fell upon him.
Reluctantly,the class rep,Kisaki Junko,stood up and said the classroom greetings. "Stand up,Bow,Sit!"
Everyone did what the class rep had said and remained silent after. Koro sensei took the class' attendance book and one by one,asked if each student was present.
"Everyone.." The students' glares intensified again when Koro-sensei spoke those words. "Why don't you try to kill me?"
All of their glares turned into confused stares. "Huh?? What do you mean,octopus?" said the class' troublemaker,Maeda Naoto.
"Well,according to sensei,a class would be livelier if they had the same goal in mind. So,why don't you focus on trying to assassinate me?" Koro-sensei said with a grin.
"Why do we have to do that? We're just failures anyway. And what do we get if we do assassinate you?" added Naoto.
Koro-sensei appeared beside Naoto using his mach-20 speed and patted his head.
"You're not failures,everyone. You students are just still unpolished gems. If you're cleaned right,you would shine really bright." Koro-sensei said with loving eyes.
Everyone was surprised by Koro-sensei's words and their icy stares melted.
"Besides.." He added. "You guys can get 5 billion yen...if you DO assassinate me." Green stripes began to appear on his face,indicating that he was underestimating the students.
Smiles appeared on the students' faces one by one and they looked at each other with determination.
Koro-sensei nodded happily and asked,"So everyone,have you decided your answer? Will you do it? Or not?"
All of the students stood up and answered with conviction,"Yes,Koro-sensei!"

The students' skills have developed greatly due to Koro-sensei's teachings and the weapons provided by the Japanese government after their approval.
