CHAPTER 1

-- (3RD PERSON POV)--

Harmony wished her life could just be normal. That she could forget all the beatings, the insults, and the slavery. But unfortunately life didn't do that for you.

So here she is. A young girl at the age of 17 bent over the kitchen stove cooking dinner for a group of 50 people, under a time limit of an hour. Not out with her friends like anyone else her age. She'd never been to a party where she wasn't a servant, and she wasn't allowed outside unless she was at school or running an errand; like grocery shopping or gardening. Heaven forbid she did something because she wanted to.

She was allowed in the kitchen for only an hour, she had to make a worthy dinner for the pack, and she had to be out of sight once she was done.

If the meal wasn't good enough she was abused. If she was in the kitchen for an extra minute she was abused. If she didn't do as someone asked, when she was asked she was abused.

Her life wasn't pleasant but it wasn’t the worst, at least she got to eat. Even though it was only a little bit once a day.

Once she finished cooking the meal she set the food, plates and cutlery on the counter so the pack could eat.

She then retreated to her room upstairs before she was reprimanded for still being in sight.

Opening the door to her tiny room she entered, turning on the light. She looked around and let out a slight sigh.

-- (HARMONY'S POV)--

I sighed looking around my room that could probably be classed as a closet. It was absolutely tiny, and I remembered what I once had.

It almost seemed like a different lifetime when my family actually loved and cared for me. When I actually went outside and had fun with the other kids.

So I may have been quiet, and felt like I didn't fit in but at least they tolerated that and let me join in. But then the day came when it all began changing. I had just turned 8 that week.

*FLASHBACK*

We were on one of our many picnics, down at the park.

I started giggling as I watched my older siblings Scott and Angelina started jumping on Dad, and I decided to join in.

Running over and laying down on Angelina was really fun, until she flipped over and started tickling me.

I jumped off and ran away while I heard her yell, "Get her." with a smile in her voice. Turning my head so I could see behind me I started giggling when I saw they were all trying to untangle themselves to get up.

I must have stopped because suddenly they were running straight towards me very quickly. I turned and ran as fast as my little legs would carry me, and entered the tree line.

I turned and hid behind a tree not too far in and waited.

"BOO!" I jumped and turned to see Scott standing behind me blocking any escape I could have made. It happened in slow motion as his hands made their way to my sides and he started tickling me.

I started laughing as squirmed and wiggled trying to escape his relentless tickling.

After several minutes of uncontrollable laughter he relaxed his hold slightly. Taking my chance, I bolted, running further into the trees as I watched him shaking his head as he slowly made his way after me.

Soon enough trees obscured him from view, but I kept running. Until I tripped over a root I hadn't seen and began rolling down a hill.

Eventually I came to a standstill, when I reached the bottom.
