Asking.

"Hey Cass, have you made up your mind about tonight yet?" Matt asked after lunch.

"Yeah. I'll come, I just gotta ask, and is it an all nighter like usual or just a couple hour thing?" I asked him while walking down the hall.

"All nighter like usual. Duhh! You know you can be pretty blond some times." Matt said trying to be funny.

"Well I was just making sure that it was an all nighter, and that way I can come prepared." I said.

"Okay good, see you about eight?" Matt said.

"Yup. See you at eight." I said as we approached my locker.

"Bye, see you later." Matt said. And he walked away before I could say bye back.

When I got home my mom was in the kitchen as usual. She's a waitress at a really fancy restaurant, and she wants to impress her boss by cooking a meal that will get her to be the new chef. The old chef quite after he won the lottery.

"Mom, can I ask you a question?"

"Sure honey. Anything." She said as she was taking a batch of taco shells out of the oven.

She likes to cook her own for tacos. She says the store bought ones have no taste. And after eating her homemade tacos I would have to agree.

"I was wondering if I could go over to Matt's house for the night. You know like a slumber party? We are just going to watch movies and eat popcorn and other movie stuff."

"Sure honey, as long as you're not going to do anything, well you know." She said trying to hint 'don't have sex'.

"Of course we aren't! Eww! Mom he's my best friend! I'm not going to 'do it' with Matt Laris." I said trying to sound like I didn't have a crush on him.

"Okay sweetie just making sure." Mom said.

After that awkward conversation I went upstairs to call Matt and tell him I could come.

"Hello?" Matt said sounding strange.

"Matt? Is that you?" I asked.

"Oh hey Cass. You still coming tonight my mom said yes but her and my dad are going out for the night so it'll just be you and me. Is that okay?"

"Yeah that's fine. My mom said yes too. So I'll see you at eight."

"Okay bye Cass."

"Bye Matt"

And with that I hung up.
