I hurridly pushed my last book into my cauldron, that sat firmly in my trunk, and had my initials, MES, on it, and closed the lid tight. I ran out of my room, taking one glance back into it and seeing how empty it was and how it would be until at least Christmas. I felt so bad for my father. He would be here alone for the next four months. I turned my head, and pulled my trunk behind me and down the stairs. Jude had already brought his case and Raleigh down. His case looked almost identical to mine, except it had JAS on it instead. It sat beside Di's and Li's, also quite similar, except with Di's was DAS, and Li's was DES. The twin's owl, a snowy named Charlie, had been let out to fly to Hogwarts, and Jude was about to release Raleigh to do the same, he would know where to go.
Jude turned to me, as he brought the cage back in and closed the window. His eyes were filled with tears, that he quickly wiped away. I went over and hugged him, burying my head in his shoulder, because I was also crying a little. "It'll be okay," he said, as he hugged me, "We'll be back for Christmas, and dad will be okay. I promise." I pulled back, and smiled at him. He wiped my eyes and smiled back.
"Come on," he said, "Let's bring our stuff to the car." We lived in a Muggle community, so it was only proper that my dad had a car. We dragged our trunks to the car and threw them into the trunk, which looked oddly larger than normal, though I didn't question it. Soon after we put our stuff in, Di and Li came dragging their's. They threw it in, Li being very violent.
"Chill, Delilah." I said, hugging her, "It's September first! I'm going to my first day of Hogwarts!" She just rolled her eyes and got into the front seat of the car. I followed but into the back-middle, and soon had Di on my right and Jude on my left. I grabbed both of their hands and gave them a squeeze, and smiled at them, as my father started up the car and sped off.
We got to the train station in 30 minutes and only had 15 to get to the platform. The boys quickly went and got two trolleys, and threw our stuff on them. We basically ran into the station, to platforms nine and ten. "Okay, Jude and Marilyn. Go ahead, you know the drill." We both ran towards the wall, I was a little afraid, it was the first time I had ever done it for myself. I opened my eyes after a very long blink to see the sign that said Platform Nine and Three-quarters. I smiled. It just felt right.
Jude and I quickly went and put our things on to the train, and saw our best friends Hailey Shaw and Rachel Frey. They were both going to be first years also.
Hailey was a small brunette with pretty brown eyes and tan skin. Rachel on the other hand was blonde, blue-eyed, and had pale skin. They were both beautiful.
I ran up behind Hailey and hugged her, covering her eyes, "Guess who?" I asked, a smile in my voice. Rachel laughed as Hailey quickly turned making me fall. She pulled me up and hugged me, as Rachel and Jude hugged. Their hug was way longer than ours. They had always had a thing for each other, for, well, as long as I could remember. But had never done anything about it, due to our young age. This year that was going to change.
"C'mon guys," Jude said, after we all finished hugging, "let's go find a compartment, while there are still some open." We hurridly got on the train, and went into the first empty compartment we found. Hailey, Jude, and Rachel sat on one side, Jude in the middle. I sat on the other side, with my legs crossed.
As the train started to move, two boys walked in. They were our age, first years. "Hello," one of them said, "I'm Fred Weasley, and this, here, is my twin, George." George gave me a devilishly handsome grin. I returned the smile. They were both gingers with some brown eyes, and, of course, complete, with freckles. "Can we sit with you all?" Fred asked.
"Of course!" I said quickly, patting the seats beside me, "I am Marilyn Stevens, and that's my twin Jude. And that's Hailey Shaw and Rachel Frey." Pointing to all of them, as the Weasleys sat down.
They both nodded as I said the names, and George said, "Nice to meet you. So are all of you first years?" We nodded, "What houses do you hope to get in?"
Jude and I both said, "Gryffindor!" as Hailey and Rachel said, "Ravenclaw!" and Fred and George added "Gryffindor!" in to it.
"Well," I said, "I don't really care what house I get in. I just know it won't be Hufflepuff. Because I'm not humble, nor am I a good finder." They all laughed, "I think I'm smart enough for Ravenclaw, and maybe sly enough for Slytherin, but I hope Gryffindor. I think I'm brave enough. My older brother, Di, is a Gryffindor. But, his twin, Li, is in Slytherin, so I don't really care. But Gryffindor is my first choice." Jude nodded along as I said everything.
George smiled at me, "You'll get into Gryffindor. You're obviously brave enough to let two jokesters like Fred and I into your compartment, and to talk to us. These friends of yours haven't said much." But the thing is, there were a bunch of small conversations going on. Jude was talking to Rachel; Fred to Hailey; and George and me. I laughed and shook my head, making him confused.
I patted his leg, "You just don't know them yet, dear. Not everyone is as friendly as me." He laughed, and somebody came in.
"You better put on your robes, we will be arriving soon." They shut the door and left, leaving us to change and get ready for the first night of our new lives.
