I woke up quickly and looked around. Memories of last night flooded over me so quickly I had to clutch my head.

"I see that you're up. Does your head hurt?" a voice spoke from the other side of the room. I jumped slightly and looked over to see Eric standing there with a concerned expression. I tensed slightly. He knows you don't belong here, he's trying to make you weak. I cleared my throat and looked up as confidently as possible, which isn't very much for me. "N-no. I-I'm fine." I stuttered out. Way to be confident, Hope. He began walking over to the bed so quickly that I almost fell off of the bed.

"Are you sure you're okay? How many fingers am I holding up?" He asked while leaning over me and holding up five fingers.

"Um.. fourive." I said awkwardly. What even, Hope?

"Fourive?" He asked with a smirk.

"I, uh, I meant to say five..." I muttered while looking down, embarrassed.

"Hey, it's okay." He said softly, causing me to look up at him. "It was cute." He mumbled with a smile.  I found it impossible to look away from his deep blue eyes, so I just sat there awkwardly taking in his every flawless feature. Woah, flawless? Hope! You can't develop feelings for him. His eyes flicked down to my lips and he slowly started to lean towards me. My breath hitched in my throat and I just sat there immobile.

"Eric!" A mans voice called out. Eric cursed under his breath and stood up.

"Yeah, Four?" He asked, irritated.

"It's time to start training." Four said while stepping into the room. "Or am I interrupting something?" Four asked with a smirk.

"No. Get out, I'll be there in two minutes." Eric growled while Four exited.

"There are some female dauntless clothes in that cabinet over there" Eric said while taking his shirt off. I averted my eyes and "majestically" stumbled over to the cabinet. I decided on a black tank top and black jeans. I quickly  dressed as best as I could without falling over. I left Eric in his room and found the other initiates.

"Hey, Hope! Are you okay?" Christina asked while running over to me. Tris followed her and offered me a small smile.

"Um, yeah, I'm fine." I say with a small smile.

"Don't look now, but Peter is totally checking you out." Christina said in a hushed tone.

"Okay, initiates! Today we are working on knife throwing." Eric said while demonstrating the proper way to throw a knife. We quickly got into our places and began throwing. This was probably the easiest thing I've done in Dauntless so far. All of the other initiates, besides Tris, seemed to be having trouble. I continued to throw until I was out.

"Good job, Um Hope, is it?" Peter asked.

"Yeah, it's Hope and thank you." I said with a small smile. He started to reply, but he was cut off by a loud clanging noise. I looked over to see that Al had dropped his knife. I couldn't hear what Eric and Al were saying, but Eric didn't look happy. I watched as Al stood at the front, shaking like a leaf. I gave Eric a disappointed look and walked away.

                                                                              ***Later that day***

"Second and last jumper! In the ring." Four yelled. I swallowed hard and stepped into the ring. A large girl stepped up and popped her neck loudly while smirking at me. I cringed slightly.

"Four, I don't think she should fight her, she's small." Eric said worriedly. Four shook his head at Eric's plea. This angered me so much my vision was blurred with red. They think you're weak, it's time to change that. "Go." Four said loudly. I didn't give the other girl time to move. I quickly advanced toward her, kicking her in the face and attacking her with my elbows street style like I'd seen in a book once. She fell off of the mat clutching her nose.

"Second jumper wins!" Four announced loudly. I began to walk away triumphantly when I felt someone grab my wrist. I turned to see Peter smiling at me.

"Hey! Great job. You should meet me at the chasm tonight." He said with a wink. I watched him walk away slightly confused on why he liked me. I shrugged and started walking back to the room where our bunks are. Suddenly I was slammed against a wall.

"You may be tougher than I thought, but you're still mine."

A/n Sorry, I know it's short and there's kind of a cliffhanger. Next chapter will be better. *unedited*
