Today was the day I was finally able to teach the people of my village how to use their powers. I studied for years at the Hummingbird Empire Academy for Forces. My village has very few people who actually have powers. I myself am 20 and the only other 2 people still alive or here are Kyoke and her brother Fe.
Kyoke was 16 and she had hair that was ivory like the trees around us. It seemed to glow against her tawny brown skin. Her eyes were a piercing coin grey. She was shorter than her brother and she usually kept to the tradition of wearing lyripsa even though women can now wear what they please. She usually wore a tan lyripsa that flowed and layered over her shoulders. Like all lyripsa, its all one piece with drooping cloth all over the body. Most the chest, hips, and arms. Hers had a hood that she usually took off.
Fe wore as little clothing as he could most of the time. This meant his strong caramel skin showed. His hair was shaved on his right side with his wavy silver strands of hair falling just below his jaw. He usually wore black leg pieces that were a similar style to lyripsa.
The Star was barely rising when I heard a knock on my door.
"Kraion! Wake up it's time to teach us!" It was Kyoke, early as always.
"You know Kyoke, I don't have to be up until mid star. Where's your brother?"
"He's... he's still asleep."
"That should be a sign that I should still be able to sleep."
After hearing her complain for what felt like it's own eternity, I finally managed to get outside. She wore her hair down instead of tied in three pieces to the back of her head.
"Okay Ky, what do you have so far?"
"I can do this," she said as she focused all her might and managed to change the breeze.
"You know, for someone who hasn't had any experience, it was actually decent. Boy, I sure have my work cut out for me."
"You don't have to be so rude, you know."
"Yeah I know, but then it wouldn't be as fun."
I spent most of the day teaching her to channel her focus to her heart so she can vent it through her body. Her breezes finally started to pick up. Then Fe came along.
"You know you two manipulate the main four elements right? You don't have to stick to one," I tell them as Fe walks on rising yowkri. He walked here just above the ground with his footsteps rising the ground beneath him.
"Wait we can control the elements!?" Fe said.
"Yes we can Fe, and Kraion, I want to learn one at a time. Better to master few than know all but-"
I cut her off because she was getting boring again, "Yeah I understand but if you're both learning different things, it's going to take longer. Since you're both obviously better in one already, how about we teach you one neither of you can do yet, fire."
"Yes master," they both say. After I teach them to not burn themselves, the Star has fallen and the stars came out along with the 3 moons. They returned home and just as I was about to eat my starspeck soup, there was a knock at my door.
As I stepped outside, there were two Hummingbird Empire soldiers standing next to a messenger. He spoke with the Hummingbird Empire accent as he told me the life changing news.
"Attention Master Kraion, you have been summoned to the Hummingbird Empire Base of Military and Defense by Empress Zvyian. It is of the utmost importance." As he finished I stood there for a while.
"So do I have to go now or-" I said as he cut me off.
"There is a global issue and Empress Zvyian wishes to see you immediately. She called for you specifically as she remembers you from when she briefly attended the Academy of Forces."
"Well if the great Empress calls," I walked back inside to get ready. "Let me get ready."
I slipped out of my leisure attire and put on my graduation armor from the academy. I then grabbed my lifeblade and grabbed a cup of gyr tea. They loaded me into the carriage that the royal family uses and the jwargrahf began to fly us to the Hummingbird Empire and return me to my old girlfriend, Zvyian.
I actually never knew she was royalty, otherwise I probably would have never dated her. We had the same sparring class at the academy and she was always the best, right after me. We were always going against other people, and never each other. The professor
