Dead and Gone

Chinno

"Babe," Poochie whispered while softly shaking me.

"Huh?" I murmured in a groggy tone, not moving a muscle. She responded with a huff before letting me know that my phone had been going off for the past ten minutes.

I sucked my teeth. I heard the shit, I was just choosing to ignore it, hoping it would stop eventually. Poochie had just given me the perfect remedy to a goodnight's sleep and I couldn't even enjoy it.

Without a word, I groaned as I turned over and picked up my cell. "Yo?" I answered without looking to see who it was.

"Special delivery, fuck boy," was all I heard before the call ended abruptly.

What? My eyebrows dipped as I sat upright, suddenly a bit more alert. I tossed my phone before pushing the covers back and then climbing out of bed.

"Babe, what's wrong?" Poochie questioned as I rushed around the room to grab a shirt and some slides. I dressed quickly before retrieving my gun from the nightstand.

"Chi!" Poochie called after me, demanding my attention. However, I was already gone.

Moments later, I heard a second set of footsteps behind me. Knowing it was Poochie, I didn't bother to turn around.

She caught up with me just as I reached the front door. She tugged at my arm and demanded that I told her what was going on. I stared back at her with a stoic expression as I snatched away.

"I don't know, Poochie! That's what I'm trying to find out now," I stated in a 'duh' tone while taking my gun off safety.

"Stay in the house," I warned before pulling the door open and stepping outside.

Of course, she didn't listen. She followed closely behind me as I skimmed our surroundings. There was no one in sight. My curiosity got the best of me as I replayed his words.

Special delivery.

As I ventured towards our mailbox, I motioned for Poochie to stay back when I noticed blood dripping from it.

I cautiously opened the mailbox before jumping back as a head rolled out of it. Poochie quickly covered her mouth as a shrill cry climbed up her throat. The last thing we needed to do was wake the neighbors.

My eyes widened in shock when I realized who it was. Without warning, Poochie hunched over and threw up into a nearby bush as tears began to spill over.

"Oh my god! Who—who is that?" she croaked.

Ronny

"What the fuck is going on?" I muttered under my breath as we pulled up to Chinno and Poochie's place.

The boys in blue had the street so crowded that Dontay had to park a few houses away. Before he even had the chance to put the car in park, I hopped out and rushed down the street. My nerves were so bad. I had to know what the hell was going on. I needed to know that my family was okay.

I pushed through the crowd of nosy neighbors, only to be stopped by two officers. "This is my sister's house! Where is my sister?" I shouted as I struggled to push past them. "Where the fuck is my sister?"

"Ma'am, we're going to have to ask you to calm down."

"Fuck that! Where the hell is my sister?" I snapped. I whirled around after feeling a hand on my shoulder. I calmed down a bit when I saw that it was Dontay.
