Twilight Sparkle, a purple pony who has no social life, travels to ponyville and discovers the many adventures of having 5 amazing friends named Rarity(the fashionista and drama queen of the bunch), Fluttershy(the shy animal lover), Pinkie Pie(energetic party planner), AppleJack(country apple picker from Sweet Apple acres), Rainbow Dash(the not so humble pony who can fly faster than a cheetah running) and in meeting these fellow ponies Twilight learns that friendship really is magic.
