Except the fact that I helped Allyn, today was a normal day: Terranova's ressource management meeting followed by the usual common meeting, lunch and works on different projects. Really nothing special at work. I just kept thinking about yesterday. I guess my parent's would be proud of me, my father especially. During these five years we had together, he always told me that I have to do what my heart tells me to. I didn't really respect that moto in the past and being a foster child didn't help me. I was only thinking. Thinking about keeping Norah and I together, about school, about my studies and my job later on. I kind of put my feelings away at that time. Until yesterday. I don't know why I did it. Putting my whole life and this stability I've managed to rebuilt at risk. Maybe it's because last time I didn't do it, I didn't listen to my feelings and cared more about my own safety.
7:30 pm. I left my office and head out to the train station. Allen was already there. When she saw me coming, she discreetly waved her hand, telling me to approach her. Even though, as politicians we are allowed to talk with strangers, we don't really do it. As soon as we'll be in Stardust, we'll be able to talk freely, people won't recognize me there. And with my tie and shirt hiding my tattoo, I wasn't really going to be the center of attention. At about 9:00pm, we arrived in Stardust. It looked just like the couple memories I had from before the closure. A charming and welcoming city. The buildings aren't as big as in Terranova: I could see a couple of skyscrapers further away, but mainly some nice wooden victorian places.
Allyn's appartement was a couple of minutes of walk from the train station, at the third floor of a huge house. I won't say that her place is girly, but you can definitely see that a girl has furnished this small apartment. Most of the items were vintage: a lot of wooden furniture and many bits and bobs all over the place.
She pointed me a little sofa where I could put my jacket and my bag, and we headed to the kitchen. She proposed me some wine as I did yesterday and she started cooking the diner while I was sitting at the table. I proposed to help, but she insisted on the fact that I was her guest, and that guests aren't supposed to cook, especially the first time they're invited.
- So, what did you do today? I asked.
- Work. She laughed.
- I know, I mean, anything special?
- Well, I had some troubles to focus, partly due to the bright and early wake up, but mainly because I kept thinking about all of my yesterday's adventures. I never thought this would be so «easy » to get in and out of Terranova.
- So did I. I'm really happy I helped you. It was the right thing to do. And yeah, I agree on this point, Terranova's security has to be improved. Still quite risky though.
- Thank you again.
- Isn't that what the diner is for?
She laughed and turned back to my direction.
- You know what I've also realized today?
- I'm sure you're about to tell me.
- Well, we didn't really finished our conversation yesterday. The walls rising, then your sister came in and later I didn't really want to bring back the subject. She said.
- Which was? I asked
- About the reason why Terranova is closed.
- I told you, protection, security, something like that.
- But why would they do that if it was just for protection? It's the whole purpose of the Dome, don't you think? Being able to collaborate with the other five cities, without fearing any kind of unsafe behavior coming from any of them. In my opinion, this isn't about any kind of protection. I think their hiding something and...
