London, England 1879,

"My hair looks good today, doesn't it?" Asked Carl while looking at her mother who was sitting on an armchair in front of him. The boy was born with the most beautiful brown hair ever. Golden wricks back his ears and two beautiful brown eyes made him seem special and georgeous and his mother knew it.

He had always been so clever. Capable of solving difficult mathematical exercises since he was a little, inmature and loud boy gave him the famous nickname of 'nerd' but he did not pay attention to it. Inner peace and tolerance defined the boy and his family.

"You are always handsome." Said his mother. She always said it, but, even though her sincere words, her son never seemed to believe her at all.

Carl nooded and smiled a moment later. His hands were now wrapping his mother's wrinkled long hands. She was tall, but not like her son and she was happy for that.

"Tell father that I am left to school. I love you" he said before opening the entrance door. Her mother was ready to continue with the housework when he turned around and claimed. "It is a promise. I going to come back with excellent marks today." He then smiled and vanished.

The woman's son was like fallen from heaven and for her there was not even a bit of doubt.

The boy was arriving late to school today. He had got distracted observing his mother's tired eyes. He closed his eyes in order to feel the fresh breeze that ran through the air caressing his white and soft face. One day he would be big and succesful and he was certainly sure of it. He just needed time and perseverance.

Two carriages passed next to him to draw up in front of the big school gates. For the first time he could notice the beautiful and elegant building in wich he recieved classes in order to improve his knowledge every day. An enormous oaken door and ornate walls and gardens were its most hilarious characteristics.

Carl opened the big door and entered the crowd of students. A long hall with enormous glass windows gave him the impression of being in a castle. Reaching his clasroom and finding his folder, he rose to his feet and sat on the wooden armchair. He needed to review what he had studied the day before to be ready for his history exam.

"You really are a nerd." Said a boy sitting on the edge of Carl's folder. He placed his fingers on Carl's head and said. "I do need your help."

Carl raised his head and closed his book. He stayed focused on the other boy's face and closed his eyes. "No, I won't."

"You know, this is not the first time I have asked you to do it. You always refure my offer, hut this time I really need it." He said opening his blue eyes widely. Some black wricks were rosing Carl's nose. He was too near.

"Instead of begging me to give you the answers, why don't you better study?" Carl was trembilng. He was sure of it... that guy was going to kick him. He would better pose as he was not scared.

"Because... I am not a nerd!" He laughed loudly until turning red. "Hey," he said getting nearer to Carl. "If you know what is better for you, you'd..."

Students started entering the clasroom. The black-haired guy, whose name was actually Alex, arched his back and stood up glancing at Carl. Two furious eyes threatened the boy making him gulp.

The teacher entered finally and said. "Okay, the exam starts now. Be ready."

Alex saw Carl for the last time before recieving his exam paper.

There were two things Carl was sure about. That he was going to resolve his exam perfectly and that Alex was going to be out of earth.
