Her eyes focused on the sharp grass; it crawled up her left leg and an itch interrupted her deep trance.

"Lucy, get your head in the game!" a rough voice arose. A football darted across her burnished brown eyes, startling her while she gained awareness. She tugged on her shoulder pads; out of breath. All of the sudden, her friend, Gajeel, passed the football towards her. It was drifting in the air, while the rival team desperately followed it.

"Run for touchdown, Lucy!" Inexplicably the football was in her grasp, she then clutched it and ran for the white line. Lively cheers came closer to Lucy, the crowd raised her high and mighty, shouting,

"VICTORY!"

The crowd cheered wildly, the cheerleaders ruffled their pom poms. Lucy grinned triumphantly along with her teammates. They won.

The after party was wild. Teens were heaving into bushes; while maintaining to keep drinking. Lucy was completely and utterly drunk, singing godawful songs, uncontrollably hiccuping. Gajeel rubbed his temple, as if to alleviate some type of phantom irritation. He watched intently with great curiosity to Lucy's embarrassing drunken acts.

He then walked towards her, picked her up, and began to laugh hysterically while she moaned in embarrassment.

"You're a handful, I'm taking you home" He then remembered a similar experience like this, but instead of Lucy it was his mother, who suffered from alcoholism. Lucy was like a sister to him, always having his back without any doubts or hesitation. He admired her for the way she defended him in the rough patches.

Lucy groaned as she struggled to get out of Gajeel's grasp to no avail. She gave up after her futile attempts failed. Gajeel carried her to his car and placed her gently in the passenger side, the rest of the night for Lucy was just a blur.

Gajeel took her to his own house, knowing how her father would react if he brought her home this late and drunk. Her father never approved of Gajeel, in fact, the first time they met Jude said, "A young lady should not be friends, much less acquaintances with a rebel punk." He had stated, not caring that Gajeel had been standing right in front of him, clutching his hands, tempted to punch him, but that would just prove Jude's point.

"A proper young lady, would settle with having female friends and wearing skirts not gym shorts." Jude said disgusted with Lucy's appearance.

From that day on, Gajeel would allow Lucy to sleep over whenever she needed since he knew that she didn't like her father nor did she like being forced to act 'proper' as her father had put it.

The flashback of memories finished as Gajeel parked the car into his drive way. He opened the car door and got out. Then got Lucy, who had passed out, out of his car, carrying her in his arms careful not to wake her. He shut the door with his foot and as he made his way to the porch, he noticed spiky salmon hair. He sighed, "Why the hell is he here?" He muttered under his breath. "Oi! Metal head!" Natsu yelled, jumping from his spot on the porch. "What the hell do ya want Salamander?" Gajeel grunted, Natsu was about to respond when he noticed the sleeping girl in his arms.

"Ya brought home another babe, or can I have this one?" He asked smirking. "Like hell I'd let ya, Firebreath! This is Lucy, she ain't a 'babe', she's like a sister to me, and if I hear from her that yer causin' her trouble, I swear imma-" Natsu interrupted him, "Oi! Chill dude," He said putting his hands up, "I was just curious."

Even so Gajeel didn't put his guard down, "Fine, but I'll be watching you." With that Gajeel, set the girl on the porch swing couch and opened the door. He took Lucy inside and set her on the couch, lightly placing a blanket over her. "She's gonna have a masive hangover tomorrow." Gajeel chuckled and set some pain relievers and water on the lamp table next to her. Natsu leaned on the doorframe, "Well, what are ya waitin' for? Go home!" Gajeel said annoyed. Natsu shrugged and watched the blonde as she mumbled incoherently in her sleep. After a few seconds he turned around without a word and left.

Gajeel shook his head, closed the open door and made his way up the stairs, turning off lights as he went. Once he was ready, he got into bed but he couldn't shake the feeling that something would happen. And it would have to do a lot with Salamander.
