Third pov
Natsu steped on the accelerator, his motorcycle growled and moved forward. He drove onto the football field, the principle and the coach looked at him with distaste. Natsu took off his shades and walked towards them, he wasn't looking forward to this, but what else could he do? If he didn't come, they would still have tracked him down eventually. Natsu rearanged his leather jacket as he approached, "What do ya want, ya old geezer?" He asked, impatience clear in his voice.Makarov, the principle, spoke first, "Natsu, I believe you will someday be able to grow into a fine young man..." He began, "Your grades are all great," he continued, "Except in P.E. Now, I don't understand how you manage to keep good grades, especially since you aren't in class much. But the only way to pass gym is to participate." Natsu shrugged, "So what? Gym ain't a main subject." He said, ignoring the look Mr. Elfman was giving him. "Yes, m'boy, but according to Mr. Elfman here, you must pass his class or else you repeat senior year."
Natsu turned to look at Mr. Elfman, as if to say 'What the hell, man?'. The gym teacher just nodded, "Passing my class is a MAN!" He threw his fist in the air. Natsu rolled his eyes. "Alright, alright. Fine, I'll do what ya tell me. I don't wanna be stuck in this dump for another year." He mumbled the last part. "Mr. Elfman is going to give you the opportunity to raise your grade if you complete a series of sport trials. That'll at least bring your grade up to a low A."
Natsu nodded, "Ok, how long do I have 'til these trials?" He asked, "Since the school year ends in about three weeks, you will be given two to prepare. That seems fair enough, so you're free to go now." Makarov said, waving his hand dismissively.
Natsu made his way to his motorcycle without a word. "A real man wouldn't ride that on our turf field or on the school property!" He heard Mr. Elfman yell. Natsu sighed, he turned on the vehicle and rode it to the school parkinglot. He put in in park and turned it off. Though it had began to rain, Natsu decided to check out one of the sport fields or court thingys, he wasn't sure what they were called.
He made it to a big field that wasn't as big as the football field. The grass was clearly not turf, it was a lively green, as to be expected since it was pretty much summer. What caught his eye wasn't the grass though. Instead, it was a short blonde, kicking around a black and white ball. By now it was pouring, but the girl didn't seem bothered by it, she kept playing. She raced around, her hair sticking to her face. Natsu's feet moved on their own, he slowly got closer but he didn't realize he was moving 'til the girl looked at him.
Her brown eyes held his for a moment, but then she looked back at the ball, she kicked it and ran after it. 'Why kick the ball when yer just gonna chase after it?' Natsu thought confused. The girl then slipped in the mud, she cursed herself. Natsu walked over to her, "Ya alright?" He asked, offering his hand. She took it and wiped the mud away onto her shorts.
"Yeah, I'm good." Her face looked up, he saw her eyes again, the reflection of the sunset sparkling in them. His eyes averted to her shirt, which he noticed was white. It was raining. He could clearly see her black bra right through. "Hey, dude, my eyes are up here," The blonde said getting his attention, "and you can let go of my hand now." He scrurried to explain, "I-I was just, I-" She giggled, "Its ok dude, chill." She said calmly, "Ya know, I've never seen a bad boy, tongue tied.." She laughed lightly, a sound that wouldn't get out of his head, possibly for the next few days.
"So what did ya need?" For a minute he didn't understand what she was talking about, but the her realized, the rebel of the school was on a field soaked in the rain, just watching this girl before him. "Well, I was," Suddenly he came up with an excuse, "I was wondering if you could uh, coach me." He said. The girl pondered this for a moment, "Why do you need my help, Dragneel?" She said placing a hand on her well defined hips. Of course she knew his name, he had a reputation.
"I need to pass gym, and I heard that you were one of the best sport players in the school."
"Alright, which sport do ya need help with?" She asked, Natsu wasn't sure how to respond, "I guess I need help with all of them." He scratched the back of his head. "Huh. And by when do you need to have learned all this?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, uh, about that... I'll be quizzed in two weeks... So yeah, two weeks." He responded, nervous of her reaction. Her eyes widened, "Two weeks?" He nodded, "I have two weeks to teach you every sport I know?" She asked as if she was confirming that she heard correctly. Natsu looked down at his feet, "Yeah." He managed to say. She let out a low whistle, "I don't know, dude." Natsu looked up again, "What?" He asked.
"I don't know if I'll be able to teach you in that short amount of time." She rubbed the back of her neck. "Come on, don't give up now, give up when you are a hundred percent sure you can't teach me. You can say that you can't 'til ya have tried." Natsu said and honestly it was probably the best mini-speach he'd ever given. Not that he'd given one before.
She smirked, she liked his determination. "Ok, I'll give it a shot, but on one condition." "Anything." He responded, but immediately added, "Within reasoning." She nodded and said, "Well, a girl I know has been threatening me and since you are bad to the bone, I was thinking you could teach me how to fire back with some words of my own or even teach me to defend myself."
He thought for a second before extending his hand, "Deal." He said and they shook hands. "So what yer name blondie since I'll be spendin' time with ya and all." He put his hands in his pockets, "Lucy," She said, "and we can meet up at the baseball field tomorrow." She added. "And that one is..." "The one shaped like a pentagon." She responded, "Alright, see ya then, Luce." He turned around and made his way back to his motorcycle. She watched him go, 'Luce' she thought, 'I like it'...
