Losing Senses

(Has 1969 words)

You were alone, touching the wound you had on your head. The air was still cold even with the heater on, in your room you just stared blankly at the blinds of the window. You survived a shot to the head. Don't ask Steve how, don't ask the doctors how. It was pure luck that you lived through it. Of course you were forced back home, Steve demanded it. He told you not to join the army so many times but you ignored his warnings. If it wasn't for your brave sacrifice Captain America would've been dead. Steve wasn't wearing his helmet at the time so a sniper took advantage, before he pulled the trigger you quickly noticed a strange silhouette hiding behind a bolder, making you swiftly push Steve out of the way and causing you to get shot instead.

Honestly, you don't remember anything that happened. Can't even remember why Steve was mad, nor why you were shot, or why you enlisted in the army. Everything was a blur.

"Hey, Y/N..." Steve knocked at the door then came in.

"How're you feeling?" He asks, worried. You felt how much weight he put on the bed once he sat down. Thinking of what to say, your head just wasn't working properly. "I don't know." Steve sighs heavily, he was stressed that all of this happened. He never wanted you hurt and he doesn't know if you are going to be able to live passed this injury, "Why did I join the army?" You turn to him with lazy eyes, giving a fake smile he said "I actually don't know, I was hoping you were the one to tell me."

Your head felt 10x heavier and an unbearable pain hit with every heartbeat, you scowled at the pain.

"I really don't remember anything Steve." You say sloppily, yet showing how panicked you were. He placed his hand behind your neck and caressed you softly, "I think it's best that you didn't know..." He murmurs.

"Follow my finger." The doctor said, you followed his finger up and down, left and right until he finished. "Your eyes are dilated," he tells you.

"Is that bad?" Steve asked, he was leaning against the wall. "I'm not sure, seems like she still has a concussion but...that's not it." He took a small flashlight from his pocket and shined it at you without a warning. "They're still dilated even when I shine it. I don't think it's a big deal," he turns of the flashlight and faced Steve "I think when she got shot her pupils stayed that way. Since it has been months and I haven't seen a difference in them, they might remain that way." The doctor says "Is that something bad though?" Steve spoke.

The doctor takes a small glance at you "No, not really." He takes your hand, raises it then let's go, making your arm flop down slackly "Flappy, huh. She didn't react." The doctor cocked his head to the side when he finally noticed you staring at one spot only. Snapping his fingers, you jump back into reality. "What happened there?" The doctor raises his brow "What were we doing again?" You look up at the doc.

"You don't remember following my finger...? Or me shining the light at you?" The doc says, you shake your head slightly "We did that?" You inquire. Steve and the doctor stared at each other questionably, turning your head to the side you said "Steve your here? When'd you come by?"

"Y/n, I was always here." He replies quietly.

"I didn't see you then..."

The doctor points at Steve and says "Better keep an eye out for her," then leaves.

For three months you've stayed in bed, it was the weekend and you wanted to have some fun. You must've recovered already, right? "Hey, Steve, let's hang out." You sluggishly say.
