"This call is confidential. It's only you and me here. You can trust me." The three sentences sounded too adult-like coming from my mouth but they needed to be said to reassure the frantic caller that I was to be trusted.

"I- I'm on top of a building here.. I- uh... I don't want to jump. Not anymore." The voice sounded like it belonged to someone young, but I can only assume.

"Good. That's great." I sighed, relieved. "Can you tell me where you are? I'm going to send some people. They're going to help you get down safely, alright?"

"Yeah that's uh.. That's alright. Should I move, then?" His voice sounded the calmest I'd ever heard someone's voice be. I wondered to myself if this was because he'd just opted out of suicide, or out of pure terror at the sight under his feet, should he fall.

"Don't move. Just hold on until they get there. You'll be safe soon." I brushed my dark brown hair from my eyes as I quickly tapped words into the keyboard. The man mumbled his whereabouts and I nodded, despite him not being able to see me.

"Can I ask what your name is? Your first name?

"Oh. It's just Jungkook." His voice was almost inaudible now, so much it almost frightened me.

"Jungkook. How old are you?" My voice lowered to match his.

"I'm... 18." He's my age.

"Well, can I ask you to stay here on the line with me? Until I know you're not alone?" The conversation seemed almost intimate now, soft words being exchanged between the two of us.

"I'll stay here." His answers were short and weary. I couldn't help but ask why.

"Are you alright over there?"

"Yeah. I'm okay, just- I'm scared of heights. Funny isn't it?" His laugh was breathy coming through the phone but it was reassuring to me.

"Jungkook... I'm glad you didn't jump." Although we were meant to keep our conversations professional, my heart ached for this boy.

"How old are you?" He asked, brushing off my statement. "You're around my age aren't you?"

"I am. I'm not supposed to tell you that though." I took a quick moment to roll my shoulders back and relax for a moment, knowing that the caller on the other end was safe. Or at least he would be, soon.

Jungkook was silent for a moment. I could hear his shaky breathing through the phone, which led me to wonder how this boy, who was my age, ended up at the top of a building.

"Could you say something? Just to distract me. Please" His voice was calm and barely audible. I hesitated. "Like what?" I had no idea what I could say to comfort him. "Talk about anything. Your coffee order, your favourite colour... I just want to stop thinking." He was mumbling, as if other things were on his mind. Of course they were. "Okay. I- um, I get a vanilla iced coffee, with extra vanilla. It's awful, because it makes me feel sick. But that's my order. My favourite colour is purple, I think. I like blue and pink, and purple is both of those, so... What about you?" Jungkook paused before answering. "It doesn't matter, I guess. Oh, uh, help is here." He sounded almost disappointed.
"Great. Thank you for not jumping, Jungkook. You did the right thing. Are you going to be okay?" I watched my computer screen as it showed the ambulance's location nearing the location of Jungkook's phone.
"Probably not, but I am for now. Hey- you never told me your name?" He sounded casual now, as if it were an ordinary phone call.

"My name is Daisy."
