Chapter Ten

Darrys' POV

When I saw May, I didn't know what to think. I thought someone jumped her. "Was it the socs?" I asked her, wanting to know if I was right. "No. My parents hit me, a lot and they were worse today. I-I-I couldn't take it, I was gonna kill myself." When she said that tears starting forming in her eyes. "Oh May, it'll get better. If you want you can stay here, you'll have to share a room with Soda, Pony, and Johnny, but that's gotta be better than your house." I offered hoping she would accept, I didn't want her living with her parents if that's how they treated her. "Darry, I really wanna say yes, but you don't have to." She probably thought it was out of pitty that I said she could stay. "You're staying that's final. Now go change and get to bed young lady." I told her with a smile.

Mays' POV

"Thank you Darry, you're the best!" I whisper yelled remembering people were sleeping in my new room upstairs. I brought my bag to the bathroom and changed, I left my bag in the bathroom and walked to my room. Pony and Soda were sleeping on the bed, and Johnny was laying on a mattress on the ground. "Hey they hogged the bed so you can sleep with me tonight if you want." Johnny said shyly, it was absolutely adorable. I accepted and laid down next to Johnny, when I was half asleep I heard Pony mumble in his sleep, "May..... love...... I....... fell...... first.... time." Wait did Ponyboy Curtis like me, no a hot guy like him, I don't have a chance and he'll meet Cherry sometime soon anyways.
