A/N:
before i start i just wanna thank you for reading my story. hope you like it! -lex
------------------------------------
"class, before school is officially over for the summer, i just wanna say have fun and don't get in too much trouble over the summer." mr. ramírez said even though no one in the class was listening whatsoever.

"wow, can you believe it's summer already liz! we'll officially be seniors in a couple of months." my boyfriend, marcus, turned to me.

"yeah and you'll officially be leaving me tonight for the entire fucking summer. and plus summer before senior year is the summer of change! what's that gonna mean for us if we're having our summer of change fucking away from each other?" i sighed as i finished packing my bag.

"i'll be back before you know it babe. things are not going to change. i love you and you love me." he intertwined his fingers with mine.

"you're gonna miss our anniversary though. one year together and we're not even gonna be together to celebrate it. and the plans we made? we had our whole summer planned out." the bell ringed. everyone picked up their bags and headed for the door.

*our 6th month anniversary*
"this summer will be amazing liz. me and you are gonna spend the entire summer together." marcus explained holding my hand.

"yes! and we can go to music festivals, go to drive in movies, go on picnics, and go to the beach."

"and for our anniversary we'll have an amazing time. i already have everything planned out." i smiled at him as he said this. "i love you liz."

"i love you too marcus." i said without hesitating.

"just because we're apart doesn't mean i don't love you. we'll be together in spirit." he kissed my forehead.

before i could respond, wesley, marcus' best friend, walked up and put his arm around marcus. "you ready to spend the summer at the beach dude?"

"you haven't told him yet?" i turned to marcus.

"tell me what?" wesley looked more confused than he normally did.

"i um i'm leaving for the summer. my mom and i are gonna stay with my grandma in sacramento for the summer."

"why the fuck did you not tell me this?"

"because i knew this is how you'd react. i leave tonight. sorry i didn't tell you earlier bro."

"you little motherfucker." he shook his head and laughed.

"i'll miss you too."

"hell yeah you will. i'm coming to sacramento before the summer just an fyi."

"or maybe i can come down to malibu."

"that works too." marcus' phone rang. it was a text from his mom.

"you know how i said i was leaving tonight? well it turns out i'm leaving right now. my mom just texted me and told me to get home. i love you liz and we'll be back together in no time." he kissed me and hugged me. "see you soon brother." and just like that he was gone.

"well now what?" wesley said.

"i don't know."

"hey, what were the plans you guys had for this summer? i overheard you guys in class."

"um well we were gonna go to a music festival, go to drive in movies, go on picnics, and go to the beach. nothing real special."

"hell yeah it's not. what kind of summer is that? drive in movies? picnics? so cliché."

"well then i'm fucking cliché."

"over summer you need do things new and exciting. like you said 'summer before senior year is the summer of change.'" he mimicked.

"shut up the fuck up. what do you have in mind?"

"i don't know. go zip lining, build a tree house, surf, jump out of a fucking plane or some cool shit like that."

"seems like you're gonna have a fun ass summer." i said sarcastically.

"you fucking know it."

wesley is the classic "bad boy" which is odd because marcus is the polar opposite yet they're practically inseparable. even their looks are almost opposites. marcus has dirty blonde hair with blue eyes that are brighter than the sky while wes has dark brown hair with gray eyes shinier than diamonds.

most girls want wes for his rep or his body. that boy could cut cheese on his abs. and apparently wesley is the best at sex in the school. i used to have the biggest crush on him in freshman year. that is until marcus started to like me and i realized that i would probably never get him. he only goes out with sluts like emma jacobson.

emma has been the "it" girl of the school ever since she fucked the football captain as a freshman. most girls hate her but secretly want to be her. why the hell would i want to be a slut who sleeps with every guy she meets. i mean she's pretty and all with chestnut wavy, long hair and green eyes, but i mean everyone can be a slut if they wanted to. it's not like it's rocket science. she's fucked almost the entire junior class including wesley. they've had an on again-off again relationship for the entire junior year.

"speaking of the devil." i muttered under my breath as emma walked towards us her heels clinking on the tile.

"hey babe." she pushed him against the lockers and they started to make out. she paused for a moment and said, "i'm throwing a party tonight. ok?" wes nodded in response and they continued.

"you know i think i'm gonna just leave." i started to back away awkwardly. "see you next year wes." i closed my locker and put my bag on my shoulder.

"what a freak." emma laughed.

"wait, elizabeth." he called after me. "why don't you come to the party tonight? you don't wanna start summer off lame as hell, do you?"

"its liz. and no i guess not."

"well then it's settled liz. you're coming to the party."

"why the fuck would you invite that freak of nature to my party?" emma scoffed.

"because she's my best friend's girlfriend."

that's all he said. he didn't defend me or anything. that's all i am to him and all i will ever be. but why should i care? i don't. i have a boyfriend who loves me and who i love.
