The hot sun beats down on my tired body as I sit up, taking in my surroundings. I look to see Harry sleeping soundly, his head rested against the side of the rickety old boat. His curls poke out every which way. I realize that I had been sleeping in his lap, disabling the possibility for him to lay down and sleep better. Suddenly, every memory from last night deluge their way back to my mind.

The ship sinking

The water

The shaking

The fear

Harry

He saved me

Harry saved my life

Had he not been there, I wouldn't have known what to do.

I look at him again, noticing his eyes starting to wiggle until they open fully. He sees me and smiles warmly. I smile back, genuinely happy that we are both awake and seem to be unharmed.

"Morning" He states simply. A twinge of caution in his voice.

"Good Morning" I reply quietly. A comfortable silence lay over us for a minute or two as we both figure out where to go from here. The boat rocks slightly as I stare out onto the water. As far as the eye can see, water covers everything.

No cruise ship

No people

No anything except me and Harry

"How are you feeling?" He questions.

"Better, I feel pretty normal." I reply, he nods his head in relief.

"Good, that's really good-"

"Thank you, Harry. For not leaving me. It couldn't have been easy to lug me around while you tried to find a way out." I blurt out, trying to break the awkward tension building on the small boat we were stuck on. My eyes glue themselves to the floor of the boat

"No problem. I couldn't just leave you there." He responds. I sigh, guilt nagging at my insides.

"You should have. I've been nothing but mean to you for the last 3 days that we've known each other." I express, trying so hard not to look up into his eyes. I want to so badly, but I know that when I do all I'll feel is pain.

"I figured you have your reasons. You have your reasons just like I do for being on that cruise ship by yourself. Like I said before, we're both alone. We should stick together. Of course, I didn't intend for us to end up stuck on a life boat together but you get my point." He explains. I nod, finally giving in to look him in the eyes.
