Jeremy was at the girls soccer game with Josh. And wouldn't you know even Doug showed up with Tyler Smith and Eric Cooper. I kept a keen eye on Doug, I didn't think he saw me. My friend Megan Arnold was with me at the game. We decided to sit with Josh and Jeremey. The cheering was bellowing all around us. Kids had painted their faces blue and white for the game. The lights where blasting onto the green turf for the girls game about to start. Jordan and Samantha were starters for the game. I cheered loudly for them, proud of my friends. Doug, Tyler and Eric made their way up to our section. Doug sat infront of me. I kicked him with my foot on accident to say "hey" and he turned swiftly and grabbed my calf.
"Watch where you're kicking that giant foot!" He snarled.
"Wha---?!" I stammered.
He chuckeld and lossened his grip on my leg, rubbing it just for a moment, enough for me to loose the entire amount of oxygen in my body.
"Hardy-har!" I shoved him playfully.
"Is this your boyfriend?" He motioned to Josh.
"Why? You want to take me out?" I stated boldly, not sure of where that confidence came from.
"Ha ha! Yeah right! No I just wanted to know who's who around here." Doug smirked.
"Hey Richards! Nah, Jazzy J wouldn't date anybody like me. She's already turned me down a hundred times!" Josh smiled at me. Did he know I liked Doug? He was so sweet, I knew I kept him around for something.
I looked down and saw Doug staring at me. Was I zoning out? Why was he staring? Did he like me or what?!
"How's your harvest dance date doing?" I joked at Kyle.
"Chelsea? She's cute. I told her I'd get back to her. See if something better comes up." He winked at me. Oh my God, please don't let me pass out!
After the national anthem and the kick off, we were well into the cheering and shouting. At half time, I asked Jeremey to come with me to get a soda. Megan stayed behind to keep out seats. I looped my arm in with Jeremey's he smiled warmley at me.
"So, Jer-Bear, how's life been going?" I asked him sweetley batting my eyelashes.
"Pretty chill, how bout you Jasmine?" Jeremey never called me anything but Jasmine, he said it was pretty enough to leave it as it was. He really was sweet, with his short brown hair and bright blue eyes. He was smart too, aside from that chiseled jaw line he knew his stuff about school and sports and was a really big history buff.
"Heeeeeey....do you remember that Wiz concert you and Sam and Josh went to?"
"Oh God...what?" He had a fear in his eyes like he'd been expecting this conversation.
"Is she ....?" His voice was weak, he knew.
"How um, ahem, um, how far along is she?" Jeremey looked away. Probablly envisioning his future go down the tubes.
"The doctor said 5, maybe 5 and a half weeks." I didn't know how much to say. I couldn't believe how he was taking this. Sam was lucky, I mean considering the situation, Jeremey was a good guy.
"Has she um, er, ahem, told her parents yet?" He choked. I pulled him away from the crowd and over towards the tree line. I gave him a hug and he squeezed me tightly. We must of hugged for a good 3 minutes. When he finally pulled away I could see tear tracks on his face. He didn't even try to wipe them away.
"You're a great friend Jazz.. I need to talk to Sam after the game. Wait, why the hell is she playing soccer all pregnant and stuff?" He was starting to get protective angry. We made our way back to the bleachers to our friends.
"Where's the soda?" Megan chirped suddenly, breaking my train of thought.
"Ha, um, drank it already, was really thirsty!" I exclaimed. Jeremey sat silent the rest of the second half. Samantha got two goals and an assist. Mt. Holly beat Joseph's Academy 3-0.
After the game, Jeremey approached Samantha at her car. They sat in her blue ford focus for about 20minutes before he gave her a hug and left. I must of been staring at them the entire time. Doug whispered in my ear, completely starteling me.
"What are we looking at?" He smiled.
"Oh my God! Doug! You just gave me a heart attack!" I gasped clutching my chest.
"Sorry!" He grabbed me and hugged me tightly. Was I dreaming?! My arms were locked at my sides. I was in heaven, glorious, glorious heaven. He let me go but kept a hand on my middle back. It sent trembles all down my spine. Jeremey was walking over to us. Doug was running his fingertips through my wavey brown hair. What was he doing? I didn't care I relished it!
"Hey Jeremey, how'd it go with Sam?" I asked not moving from my position with Doug. His hand had moved to just above my ass, his fingertips dancing gently on my lower back. Oh my God he was killing me!
"I don't know, hey Dougie can I talk to Jasmine for a minute, in private?" I looked up and half smiled at Doug, I was about to throw up on him from his tantilzing finger play on my back. He looked hurt and confused, I grabbed his hand and held it for a moment.
"Wait for me." I whispered into his ear. I saw a smile creep across his lips.
I jogged over to Jeremey just a few yards away. The crowd had thined out considerablly and the snack bar staff was closing up, light would be limited soon.
"She wants to keep it." Jeremey sighed, almost releived.
"Ok! That's good...right?" I shrugged.
"Yeah! We got pretty overwhelmed thinking about all the what ifs, and what has to be done, and what's going to happen in our lives. She said we should try going on a date and seeing what happans. I mean, I'm obviously attracted to her, and like her a lot. We've just always had that sexual tension and never acted on it until last month..." Jeremey filled me in.
"Well!" I exclaimed. "You sure don't do anything half assed!" I slapped him on on the shoulder. Ok, maybe a little too excited for the situation.
"Sorry." I shrugged, "But that is good news to me!"
"Yeah, I mean we gotta make the best of it. She is stubborn though and won't quit soccer." I motioned for him to start walking, the school was closing up and trying to push us to the parking lot.
I rushed over to Doug who was waiting patiently. I flashed him an excited smile. He grinned back at me.
