I knew there was something about him from the first moment I saw him, the way his eyes lit up when he smiled, the casual way he said ‘hi’. Everything about him screamed perfection. Cedric Diggory. Cedric.
It was my first night at the burrow that year, I was plagued with nightmares all summer, and even now, surrounded by those I loved, I still saw Voldemort every night. That night I dreamt of an old man dying, only to awaken and see Hermione floating above me.
“Harry, Harry, wake up!” Hermione cried.
“Hermione! When did you get here?” I replied.
“Just now, what about you?”
“Last night”
“Well you better hurry up, breakfast is ready. Ronald, wake up! Your mother is waiting”, with that Hermione was gone and we were left to get ready. We got changed as quickly as possible and was down stairs in record time.
As soon as we had finished eating enough food to feed the English army we were off. Mr. Weasley led Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Fred, George and I out of the house towards a forest. None of us knew what was going on. That’s when I saw him, saw his eyes, his smile, his hair, everything was just perfect. I’ve never felt like this before and it was scary. He was there with his dad, and the 9 of us kept walking into the forest. We finally reached where ever it was we were supposed to be. But it was not as exciting as Mr. Weasley was going on about; it was just a boot, a rather ugly boot at that. Everyone seemed to gather around it, and all had a hold on it, I didn’t understand why they were holding, but Mr. Weasley told me to grab it. I did as I was told and was lifted off the ground and whisked into this middle land, this whole thing was making my head spin, but before I knew it Mr. Weasley was telling us to let go. Let go, we couldn’t possibly, we would die! But then again it was Mr. Weasley, he would never let anything bad happen to us. So I just let go, Hermione and Ron doing the same.
We just fell, not even slowly, falling, when at the last moment just I was about to die, we stopped. Then fell to ground, although, we were much closer to the ground so it didn’t hurt nearly as much. Looking around I saw Mr. Diggory and Cedric calming walking their way down. As if it was nothing, it was simply amazing. He was amazing. I don’t know what had come over me, I just kept staring, he probably thought I was crazy or something.
Sadly though, we didn’t see each other at all that day. The Diggorys had gotten very good seats whereas we were right up the top. We would be able to see everything, although we would also feel the cold of the wind. Of course that night was a terrible one, not only had the Irish lost, but Voldemort’s supporters were also back, Death Eater, as they were called. Complete with the dark mark in the sky. And to add to that I hadn’t seen Cedric at all.
It was crazy how much I thought about him, probably a bit too much. We’d only just met but I felt as though I had known him my whole life, I had probably seen him around school, but I felt like we had this connection, a bond I had never felt before.
