His eyes widened and he looked startled, but I didn't back up. After a little while he started kissing me back. My hands were tangled in his hair when he abruptly pulled away. I wasn't expecting it and I almost fell over. He stood up and almost ran out the door.
"Wait....Kyle!" I stood up and ran after him.I caught up with him halfway down the third block. "Kyle...." I said breathlessly.
"No, Rosie, stop following me. I can't do this to you!" he had a look of fear and hostility on his face and on his eyes.
I reached out to touch his face, "Kyle, it'll be okay."
He pushed my hand away, "No, no, no!" he kneeled on the ground, put his head in his hands, and started crying. He looked up at me with tears in his eyes. "Goodbye Rosie Hawkens."
I watched, almost sobbing, as he stood up and walked away. I slowly started walking the other direction, actually crying now.

I lay on my bed, trying to do homework, and failing. I couldn't stop thinking about that day. What did I do wrong? I went through the moment again and again, analyzing it, and trying to figure out what went wrong. My phone started buzzing and interrupted my thoughts. It was Kyle, I ignored it scared of what would happen or what he would say. I kept seeing the fear on his face as he told me to stop following him. It ws like a nightmare that you never woke up from.
Kyle...What did I do?
My phone started buzzing again. It was Kyle. I let it ring for a couple rings and then answered.
"Hello?" I asked dtill recovering from my tears.
"Rosie? are you okay?" I heard Kyle's voice ans wanted to burst into tears again; it was full of concern when HE had caused this. "Rosie? Are you there? Please answer..." he was begging......for me.
"I'm here," I whispered.
"Rosie! Are you okay? I'm sorry about... you know, I just didn't want tot hurt you."
"I understand," no I didn't.
"Good, I'm gald. So does that meant hat our movie date is still on for Friday?"
"Ya, I can't wait."
"You don't sound excited."
"I am, trust me."
"KYLE! Get your butt downstairs and do the dishes!" I heard this voice in the background and guessed it was his mom.
"Sorry gotta go. See you tomorrow?" I could almost see him smiling that perfect white smile and while I thought of it, I couldn't help it, I smiled too. All confusion left me and i couldn't wait to see him tomorrow.
"See you tomorrow Kyle. Want to walk to French class together?Meet you at the water fountain?"
"Sure, sounds fun. Bye."
"Bye."
I hung up and let out a sigh. I was kind of glad that our conversation was over because it had been awkward and I didn't know why I had invited him to walk with me; beside I needed to call my best friend, Mallory Dragt. I dialed her number and pressed the call number.
"Hey Rosie! How you doin'?!" I could almost see her bouncing around the kitchen, probably baking something, her blonde hair flying around her face. I giggled at the thought. "What's so funny?"
"Nothing," i said stil giggling. "I'm great by the way,wel kinda."
"What's wrong?"
"Well, I met this really cute guy,Kyle, and he's super cute."
"Doesn't sound bad to me."
"Well, he asked me out-"
"Still doesn't sound bad."
"Mallory, wait for me to finish!"
"Sorry, go on."
"Thank you. Well, we went to Starbucks and I kissed him," I pause for her to talk.
"Did he like it?"
He did at first, but after a bit he ran away."
"Oh."
"Ya."
Did he call you agian or just leave?"
"He called, twice actually
