"Explaining my perceptions to blank-faced peers who are not even open-minded enough to entertain my notion of individuality."
~Amy Crain

I twirled my dark blue hair around my index finger. I could feel the gazes of the students as they take in my pale blue skin and electric blue eyes. They examined my navy pumps and navy dress.

Really, I couldn't blame them. The dress went down to my knees and was swirled at the top with silver. At the waist, a black ribbon is tied around me.

They take in the makeup on my face. They take in the silver eye shadow and black eyeliner and lipstick. They take in my black nose stud and the foundation covering the freckles they know are there.

They whisper about me behind my back. After all, it's not every day you see a blue girl. All girls are pink. All boys are blue. That's how it is. I'm the only exception.

To them, I could be an alien for the looks they give me. I didn't even do anything wrong. I'm just different. Is that a crime?
