The big day finally arrived, and lo and behold, I am a wreck.
I had managed to spend the whole day locked away in my room, refusing to speak to anyone regarding the selection. Even Ahren, who tried oh so hard to crack a smile from my tight lips, gave up by the afternoon.
At approximately three o'clock, my home will be filled with dozens of suitors from across Illéa. My peaceful home will be turned into a loud, grueling environment occupied by alpha males. Wohoo. My dream come true.
I lifted my head from its resting spot on my desk and glanced over at my clock. It read 2:57.
In a few minutes someone will come barging through those doors and take my life away. Ugh I sound so pitiful.
I picked up my phone. Maybe now is a good time to talk to Hayden before the chaos begins.
Sorry I haven't texted you back. I've been super busy. How are you?
Message sent. Was that too formal? Should I have said something else? Damn it I forgot to say Hello.
Before I could beat myself up anymore about the situation, Nina came into my room with a long, fitted white dress.
I finished the outfit with some simple silver heels and a few pieces of jewelry. I decided to leave my hair down and wavy. It's not like I'm trying to impress these guys.
Nina escorted me to the main hallway. Unfortunately it was time for me to make my appearance at the extravaganza; I was already late as it is. I made my way down the main hallways staring at paintings of the past rulers of Illéa. I saw Father's portrait of when he was younger. He looked so strong and powerful. Soon I will join him on that wall and become the first female ever to rule.
"Wait here my lady," Nina spoke, "They will send the suitors down one by one. You will have the chance to meet them all, but only for a few minutes."
"Thank you Nina."
"It's my pleasure," she smiled, "Have fun1"
"I will try."
Moments passed before the first suitor emerged from the doorway.
He was a tall guy with blonde hair and a friendly smile.
"Your Highness," he bowed, "Cohen Stephens, Hansport."
"Nice to meet you Cohen," I pretended smiled.
"The pleasure is all mine. And may I say, you are gorgeous."
I stood there awkwardly for a second, unsure of what to say.
"Oh," his face turned red, "Sorry that was too far."
"No um thank you. I know."
"You know?"
"Yes, I know I'm beautiful."
"Well," He smiled, "I always love women with confidence."
"Me too."
"Excuse me?"
Oh crap. That just came out.
I laughed, "I was joking silly."
"Oh," he laughed.
"Even princesses joke sometimes."
"Good. It would be a shame to never see that smile again."
I smiled and thanked him for his kindness.
The next suitor arrived. He walked down the hallway smirking and bowed nonchalantly when he reached me.
"Princess Eadlyn. It's a pleasure. Anden Charles of Newport."
I could tell this one was trouble from the second he walked in. Nobody takes their time when meeting me.
"Hello," I responded, "Confident are we?"
"There's nothing wrong with assertive," He smirked, "You look stunning as always."
"We just met."
"Yes well I believe we've had a special connection from the moment my name was announced."
He was very attractive; maybe if he was a women I would be interested. His dark black hair and green eyes stood out from far away. There was something about him that made me eager to hear more.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night," I answered back. Two can play at this game.
I showed him to the next room and prepared myself to meet the next suitor. Two down, thirty three more to go.
I turned around to see a sandy haired guy with blue eyes and freckles.
"Good evening your highness."
He reached for my hand and kissed it slowly.
"How are you this afternoon?"
"Alright. And you?"
"The plane ride was a little bumpy, but seeing you makes it worth it."
"Long trip?"
"Sort of. Angeles is very different from home."
"And where is that?"
"Clermont."
"Clermont," I smirked, "You Clermont boys always tend to be trouble...so I've heard."
"Depends on who you asked," He charmingly winked.
"Do you have a name?"
"Sebastian. Sebastian Hollins."
"I'll try and remember that. I have a lot of names to remember and only a short amount of time."
"Hopefully I'll be unforgettable."
"We will see," I smiled.
Playing with these guys emotions will be more fun than I originally thought.
There were so many suitors it was hard to keep track of. Robert is from Zuni and a little weird. Turner is from Carolina and was slightly nervous. Naoh is from Kent and tried to hug me. Mason from Dominica had beautiful brown skin and Aiden from Fennely had longish blonde hair.
I juggled though the names in my head. There were so many I thought I would pass out. A lot of them were easily irrelevant and when it came time to make my first cut, I knew exactly who to throw out.
"Gentlemen," I greeted them in the great hall, "It's been a pleasure to meet you all. Unfortunately, I feel some of you do not have what it takes to rule alongside me. If I do not call your name, please exit through the side door and return home.

DevanThat's the finally list. Thank you everyone else for joining me in my home, but you are finished here as of now."
Phew. That is finished. Mother is going to be furious. Thirty minutes and only sixteen suitors left.
