I'm the First one to the cafeteria ,I stand there waiting for more people to come so that the security guard can open the door.

after about thirty seconds a crowd has gathered the security gaurd opens the door and starts letting students in, I sit in the same place i'd sat all last year ,the very first table when you walk through the door, that way I had a

clear view of the whole cafeteria.

in ten minutes which felt to me like forever, the whole cafeteria was filled with excited teenagers every clique you could think of was in this room

from thugs, nerds, super nerds, jocks, cheerleaders ,wanna be popular people to the actual popular people

I was so busy looking at all the familiar faces I didn't notice my friend laquisha (lala for short) had sat down in front of me and was talking to me

we'd been bestfriends since the third grade and she'd alway been there for me no matter what.

''Hello'' She said while waving her hand in my face.

''did you hear anything I just said?"

I blink twice and snap out of my trance

"no..what'd you say?"

she gives me a concerned look and repeats herself

"I said,CAN YOU BELIEVE WE'RE JUNIORS?"

I force a smile and manage to say the word

"great"

she looks down at her phone and starts texting.

I feel someone starring at me I look dead to the back of the cafeteria off instinct. and treyson's starring right at me

we stare at each other until the guard calls for everyone to line up to get lunch me and lala line up .

she turns around to me smiling ear to ear and says

"so..homecoming is right around the corner ,you should come this year it'll be fun!"

I suck my teeth and sigh

" no thank you,besides..I have nothing to wear ,no guy to go with and I can't dance to save my life"

she pokes her bottom lip out and tries her best at the puppy dog face

"oh come on nita this is your chance to get involved with the school..and maybe you'll find a cute boy who likes you,it's homecoming anything could happen."

I roll my eyes and stick my hands in my pockets

Yeah,Yeah, I'll think about it.
