I pedal fast. Down Rose Drive, were houses swim in pools of orange streetlight. Let me make it in time. Please let me make it in time. I'm trying to reach the Feast Café before the late night rush.
It's been exactly a year end Jazz has organised a night for all of us; Daisy, Dylan, Leo, Ed, her and myself. Since its Jazz, no-one has any ideas of what we're doing.
Lucy! Where are you?! Hurry up! We're all waiting on you. Jazz has been texting me all night. But this one makes me pedal faster. Turn left down a bend, over a hill, past a milk-bar and finally arriving outside the café.
"About time Lucy! You really need to get yourself a car. They're all inside waiting. Including Ed..." After locking up my bike, I follow Jazz into the shop. Although they've redecorated, nothing much has changed from that night. Being dragged around by Jazz, coming here and meeting my graffiti artist... Who is now my boyfriend of 1 year exactly...? Next year we all go off full time to study-or work in some cases-but we are celebrating our last 12 or so hours together.
"Well now she's arrived, I'll be informing you of the plan for this evening." Jazz-the now-professional-actress, whose big break, will be taking her to New York City and directly onto Broadway in the next week, was standing at the head of the table I fund us all at. I slid into the remaining seat, next to Ed as she continued her monologue.
"Tonight, as most of us are celebrating our one year relationship anniversary, there are some of us have been dating for an inconsecutive year and a half. But that aside, this is the last day we will be in the same place for some time."
Ed took this moment to whisper in my ear.
"Hey. Happy anniversary Bird." That's been his sort of pet name for me since he discovered how much I loved his pictures about the birds... At first I thought it was quite strange-but now I (to my own embarrassment) I do enjoy him calling me his Bird.
"I suggest-as we are all of legal age- LETS GO CLUBBING!" Jazz's last statement was met with an absolutely thunderous applause from the boys of the group and the communal groans of Daisy and I.
"Well girls, guess you're out voted again... Better luck next time." Leo pats Daisy on the head in mock sympathy. Dylan on the other hand, is not calm. He almost knocked over the table when he stood up to whoop and do his strange version of a happy dance.
"Dylan! Oh my god! Dylan, please sit down. You are in public!!" Daisy was completely mortified at the sight of the dance, covering her face so she didn't have to see all the staff and other patrons of the Feast Café laugh at him. Ed pulled out his phone and recorded the last few seconds of the dance. After approximately thirty more seconds of the dance, Dylan resumes his seat and acts like nothing had just happened.
"Hurry up slow pokes! We're burning the night away waiting for him to regain is sanity. It's not going to happen; I can see the future still, remember?"
While I was watching Dylan, Jazz had already gotten up and walked to the door. And there she's standing-waiting for us to get up and follow her to the club she's planning to drag us. While Leo, Daisy and Dylan started walking pretty much straight away, Ed got hold of my hand and called to Leo,
"Yo, we should show the girls now. It might be the last night we're able to. It's walking distance from here anyways." Leo nodded and instead of getting in Jazz's car, we walk down Albeckett Street.
