I watched him bite his soft lip as he fumbled with his keys trying to find the right one which would lead us inside. Not being able to hold a smile back I spoke to his focused self.
"Got enough keys there?" His eyes flashed towards mine and he clicked the lock open.
"I have actually thank you for the concern." It had been weird walking to his apartment with him. I was still trembling from mine and Donny's previous encounter and he was trying to comfort me without over powering my weak body. Half way there I had pushed him away announcing stubbornly that was I was perfectly fine. Although I could see he didn't believe it at all. After that he didn't touch me apart from our arms brushing now and again as we walked under the black sky. He had proposed I stay at his place, until I had figured out my next move. Or until Donny found us.
How was this happening? I had only just met this guy and I was already being pulled into his apartment after he saved me from a daily beating.
I felt his arm reach pass me and I jumped slightly in the darkness of the room.
"Relax I'm just turning on the light switch." Once it flicked on, he closed the door behind us and I could see him smirking at my little jumpy self. I told him on the way here to forget what he had seen, even though he agreed somehow I doubt he would keep to it.
My gaze averted to the room in front of me. A deep red sofa was in the middle of the room, facing a normal sized tele. Rubbish wrappers were all over the place as well as boxers and old food which he had failed to clear up.
"You like?" He winked at me as he walked to the small kitchen area at the side. I stood frozen my eyes looking over the room I was about to stay in.
"Where's the bed? You said there was a bed?"
"Ah so you do listen." His long finger pointed to a door to my right. "Bedroom there and bathroom on the other side." His finger turned to the wall on the opposite side. Glancing to the clock I saw it was around 3 in the morning. Sighing I brought my hands up to my head and pressed my eyes against my palms.
"This can't be happening." I mumbled to myself. A body passed mine and he jumped down onto the sofa, pulling a white kitten onto his torso as he lay. His big hands looked huge against the frail kittens body.
"Don't kill it." He looked up confused and slightly shocked.
"Why would I ki-" I cut him off.
"Your hands are so big...don't hurt it."
"I would never hurt Jimmy."
"Jimmy?" I raised an eyebrow walking over to the sofa slowly.
"I named him after my other cat."
"You have two cats named Jimmy?" He snickered at my comment.
"Yes." I looked at him, then he started laughing. "Lighten up Sam I'm kidding." He walked over and leaned down to take my jacket off of my cold body. But I pulled away.
"Once again it's Samantha. I'm not a dude."
"Wow you really do learn something every day don't you?" He pulled at my elbows softly causing my arms to obey and drop. Sliding the jacket off gently he placed it on the sofa and took a closer look at my arms.
