Later That Day.
As I was heading to the cafteria, I searched through the different groups of people for Valerie. She always knows how to boost me up when my day's goin pretty crappy. I couldn't find her anywhere. "Jake!" I turned around and smiled when I saw her walking up to me. "Hey Val. I was just looking for you." We embraced each other warmly.
"So...." she trailed off, smiling.
"So..... what?" I chuckled.
"Prom"
I scoffed. "Please. Don't remind me"
She rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "Why won't you go?"
"... You know exactly why"
She furrowed her eyebrows.
"Elly..." I added.
"Ohhh... Right.." she sighed.
"Yea... She just had to choose Corahn as her boyfriend. And they just have to go to prom together"
"Well... Just because she's going with someone else, doesn't mean you still can't go"
"By myself? And look stupid?"
"Just find somebody else to go with"
"Who?"
She started to say something, but stopped herself and sighed. "Nevermind"
And, then, she walked off, getting into the nearest lunch line. Dang. What's her problem? "Hey Jake" I smiled, hearing that soft, voice. It could only belong to one person - Elise. I faced her as we greeted each other with a hug.
"Sorry about this morning." She bit her lip, scratching the back of her neck.
"Nah, it's okay.. It's not your fault"
"I hate when he acts like that"
I wanted to say "I just hate him period" but of course, I kept my mouth shut.
"I can't believe I'm goin to prom with him"
My eyes widened. So she doesn't want to go with him?
"You don't wanna go with him?" I asked, as we both got our food, finally, heading to our table. She shook her head. "I wish I didn't have to. But, he's forcing me"
"So, you're just gonna let him boss you around?" I rose an eyebrow.
"If I don't satisfy him, he'll..." she paused, sighing.
I knew exactly what she was trying to say. Once we got to the table, I greeted everyone. But, there was one girl in particular that I didn't recognize. She was sitting next to Rayan. "Um, Ray?" I said.
"Wassup.."
"Are you gonna .. introduce us to your little friend?" I asked, smirking. "Oh! I'm sorry. Guys, this is Ashley. Ashley, that's Jake.." he pointed out. "... Chres, Craig, Valerie, Elise and Tierra"
"Hi" she said, giggling after.
"So, is she like .. your girlfriend?" Tierra asked, smirking.
"No!" they both shouted simultaneously.
"Trust me. I would never in my lifetime, date him" Ashley said, laughing.
"Well, dämn. That was harsh" he said. She shrugged. "But, nah, she's my cousin" he added. "Aw, really? You two would be the cutest couple ever" Tierra said.
"Ew" they said again, simultaneously.
