'Oh my fuck, could this line be any longer?'

Like come on Starbucks, I've put my faith in you every morning for the past three months and the one time I really NEED you, you drag ass.

After waiting in the longest line known to man for ten minutes I got the bagel and coffee, when I was ordering I realized that I don't even know how he likes his coffee, so I got him an iced latte, regardless he better enjoy this shit.

I pulled up to the skyscraper and into the underground parking lot, I made my way towards the elevator and went straight up to Maxwell's office. It's 7:52 a.m. Technically he doesn't have to be in till 8:00 so I have time to leave everything on his desk.

I looked at my reflection in the elevator door, I look professional in my black short sleeve blazer covering my sleeveless white satin shirt tucked into my black high-waist skirt completed with black-nude heeled heels. I wish I could wear flats everywhere but..heels kind of complete the outfit ya know?

I could see some of the girls walking in out of the break room before the actual work day started...probably getting their fix of coffee, I wonder if word spread about me being "fired." Even if it did, I was detemined to make sure that was a huge mistake on Maxwell's part.

I turned the corner and walked down the short hallway that lead to the closed black double doors, this section of the floor was just for the lead CEO behind those doors was where many people's careers had been diminished, the office of the one person in control of the ENTIRE company, the one office where if you weren't an assistant, a corporate, or given an appointment, then you had no business in this tiny hallway leading up to one room.

I was so confident, I was gonna waltz in there leave his coffee and bagel neatly there on his desk, take some paperwork and get to work on it and show him that it wasn't going to be that easy getting rid of me..

Did that happen?

Nope. This son of a bitch was sitting in his black leather swivel chair, he was wearing another three piece suit...'fancy pants'.

His suit jacket hung neatly on the back of his chair, his hair was perfectly quiffed up in the front, his elbow was propped up on the desk with one hand on his jaw, he was looking down reading through a packet of whatever and hadn't noticed me standing there.

"Whoever you are, I have no appointments or meetings today, so see your way out."

My mouth gaped...his gorgeous fucking eyes hadn't even left the print he was reading. The audacity of this man!

I walked confidently to the very front of his desk, my heels clicking with each step against the black marble floor. I placed the bagel and iced latte infront of him, his eyes shot up to mine. For the first time I saw some emotion on Maxwell's face instead of the usual stone wall.

"What exactly do you think you're doing Ms. Avery?" his voice was gruff and hard.

It set me back a bit, but I didn't let it discourage me, I just put on a smile,"I'm working, that's what."

He raised a brow and sat back in his chair, he brought the pen in his right hand up to his perfect pouty lips lightly grazing them quizzically with the top of his fancy pen, I stood there with my hands folded infront of me, we just starred as if we were challenging eachother.

"If I remember correctly we already discussed your postion."

My smile dropped and I was done fucking around, "What position is that exactly? You left me with nothing."

The amusement disapeared from his solid face and he was serious now lowering the pen back to the desk, "Ms. Avery, as I said before I can try my best to set you up with a minor CEO or at another headquarter if necessary, but I work alone."

He stood up slowly placing both palms on the desk, it was seperating us but with his height he still managed to slightly tower over me.

I looked up into his eyes.

"To say I left you with nothing is an exageration, I am going to compensate you until you find employement again." he paused and grabbed his jacket from his chair with his big long hands, "Now if you ask me, that seems a bit...generous."

I scoffed, "Mr. Wade I don't want your compensation, I just want my job. You work alone and always have...yea I get that, but when you were always working alone you didn't have the position that you have now which is lead, obviously you know as well as I that with this comes more work. If I'm bursting my bubble then so be it but I am the best assistant in this entire building, and after a week with this postion you will realize that you need my assistance."

Now it was his turn to scoff, "I don't need anyone."

"Mr. Wade I'm willing to bet my entire life savings on that statement." No way kemosabe, I am not backing down that easily.

He eyed me, his dominant demeanor never fading. He sighed and looked down at the coffee and bagel and his desk, "What's this?"

"What it looks like." I answered back in his same tone. A small smirk pulled at the corner of his mouth.

"Thank you for you attempted bribery but I only take it black."

What the hell is wrong with you? You demonic figure..this is a fucking iced latte.

"Well now I know."

He took the bagel in his hand and tossed it in the trash while looking me in the eyes, he grabbed the latte and placed it infront of me, "I only eat blue berry bagels, and you do what you will with that." he gestured at the coffee.

He walked around from behind his desk while slipping on his dark silver suit jacket...Louis Vuitton again? Jesus..is he personally dressed every morning by fashion designers?

"I'll give you this week, if I am not impressed and or satisfied you are gone with no compensation from me." he turned and fixed his cufflink, "I expect you to do as I say when I say. When I say jump your reaction his how high. When I page I expect you here in a second, You already know your job, I will not put with any more back sas from you nor attitude. You address me as Mr. Wade or Sir. You will treat me with respect whether my back is turned or not because I am not Jack Calmen, whether you like me or not does not phase me you will respect me." He ran a long hand across his jaw covered in light stubble and pointed at the stack of paper work on his desk, "Get to work on that." He walked towards the doors.

I internally sighed in victory...I'm not fired, way to save your ass Audrey.

I watched him as his tall muscular figure walked out the door and down the hall.

'Alright so maybe he's a gigantic asshole...but I can handle it.'
