I was apart of a black ops team for the army, there was about ten of us together in the group. Our assignment while in Afghanistan was to clear out a town and defuse a bomb. Myself and the HDT of my team were inspecting the bomb currently weighing our options. "What are the chances of this bomb blowing on us?" I asked Jordan, "This bomb could blow in a 25 mile radius, it will obliterate anything in its path." I started debating over my options when my radio went off "General we have an unidentifiable vehicle thirty yards out, what would you like us to do?" I had decided that I wanted my team safe, "Take care of the target, and take a vehicle back to base camp."I knew my team wouldn't want to leave me and others behind. That's the kind of loyalty I love about all of them, "That's an order lieutenant, do not make me force you." I could hear the gunfire of my team, knowing they followed my orders and took one of the vans I made my way back to the bomb. I saw Jordan with a grave look on his face as he stood up "Why did you send them back, why didn't you go with them?" I smiled at him I felt bad honestly, "I volunteered me and my team to take this assignment, and you are apart of my team I am not gonna let you die alone because of a bomb and one of my decisions." I rested my hand on the side of his face and looked into his green eyes and I didn't see fear or regret but something I couldn't recognize. I leaned in a placed a soft kiss on his lips before he grabbed my face in his hands and kissed me back, I smiled into the kiss as he bit my bottom asking for entrance as I denied him and pulled away. "You shouldn't be risking your life because of me and an assignment, you should have gone with them." He looked like he genuinely cared about my safety, I smiled as I felt a blush crawling up to my cheeks. I grabbed his hand and intertwined our fingers "I'm not leaving you, death doesn't scare me, we do it together."
When Jordan cut the wire to defuse the bomb I could feel the fire and heat consume us, burning our skin. At some point I blacked out, I had thought death was consuming me and I was ready. After awhile I could still feel small movement within my body like it's trying to wake itself up.
