Hey guys! I know I haven't undated in forever but, now that summer is coming up I plan to finish this book. Thanks to all those who stuck with it and commented, and voted. Y'all are great. "I have a difficult relationship with my family..." He paused, licking his lips and glanced at me. I gave gave him an encouraging nod.
" My mother abandoned us when we were young. She hated life on the ship and wanted to go back to our planet...I knew that, we all did. So she left. In a time when peace between the species was imperative, she up and left her position as queen," Carlos said tightly.
"And as mother." I said softly.
"And as mother."
We were sitting on the couch, not touching. But close enough for me to reach out and touch him. I didn't though. I don't think he'd want me to right now. He refused to hold my gaze . The words seemed painful for him to say, but I stayed quiet. I was eager to hear more. I needed to know why he was the way he was. Angry, controlling, then sweet and passionate. Most of all passionate. And wanted to know everything.
"Today, my father called me to the ship." he blurted. My eyes widened.
"King Darius?" I asked shocked. I was in awe. I forget that by being friends or "with" Carlos that means he have a direct line to King Darius. I always wondered about Carlos's father and the rest of his family. He never tells me much so that's why I don't wanna push him now or he'll never open up again.
"That's great.. Isn't it?" I questioned unsure of how to react to this news.
"Carlos?" I prodded. His whole body was tense and his jaw was clenched. I hated seeing him this way. Does he have issues with his father? It's somewhat hard to contemplate. King Darius was handsome like Carlos and always seemed so kind on camera.
"Isn't that a good think, your father wanting to spend time with you?" I asked cautiously.
He let out a dark laugh. "That is hardly what he called me for Eliza."
