"Daddy!" I yelled as my father, Bobby Munson, opened the door to my childhood home.
"Princess! Welcome back. I missed you so much," He says as he holds me in his bear-like hug. "In fact the whole club did! Gemma and Clay are holding a party tonight at the clubhouse in your honor. That's a pretty big deal, you know." He said with a proud grin on his face.
It was the summer after my last semester at The College Of New Jersey. I had gone to college so far from home to separate myself from the town I grew up in, and thrived on my own. But my father needed me, whether he would admit it or not, so I decided to take a local job in Charming to be around him more. Everyone in the club was so proud of me for being the first one of their own to go off to college and get a degree.
"Oh wow! That's so nice of Gemma and Clay. I'm going to unpack and then hop in the shower to get ready." I said to my dad as I kissed his cheek and made my way to my childhood room. I opened the door and couldn't believe that nothing had changed.
"Uh hey dad?" I shouted to my father.
"Yes, hon?"
"Do you think at some point we can re-do my room? You know, just paint it and maybe get a bigger bed? I mean I am 22 now, and Barbies aren't really my thing anymore." I replied as he appeared in the doorway.
"Of course, we can go furniture shopping this weekend and pick out paint samples." He smiled back, happy to have me back.
I start unpacking all my clothes that I had brought home with me, trying to find an outfit for my welcome home party. It felt impossible, but I settled on my usual white v-neck tee shirt and denim shorts. As I got undressed to shower, all I could think about was seeing Jax again for the first time in months. I've always had a crush on him, like any other girl in Charming, but I never knew how he felt towards me. He always had his eyes on Tara. But with Tara not around anymore, I had my chance.
After my shower, I sat down at my vanity and looked into the mirror. The way the sun was hitting my face made my blue eyes look even bluer, and made my blonde hair, although damp, look even blonder. I was excited for this party. I paid special attention to my makeup and hair. Did I want to go all out or stay au natural? I decided for a mix of the two, putting my favorite combination of shimmery brown eye shadow, mascara and eyeliner, and as for my hair, let it dry in its natural waves. I couldn't believe I was back in Charming, and couldn't believe I was bound to see everyone I had left behind again. I felt my heart fall as I realized this.
"Addi, honey! We need to get going! It's almost time for the party to start!" Dad yelled up the stairs.
"Okay just a second!" I yelled back, sliding my studs in my ears. I looked in the mirror and did a final check of my outfit. I was ready to go and see my family and the boy I wanted so badly.
