I can still see the way her head smacked against the windshield twice, until finally her head fell through the glass. Followed by the rest of her body.
Slam; one
Smack; two
Crack; three
And she was gone, nothing left behind her but a memory of her in an always drunken state. As soon as the last number was said in my head, each fragment of glass felt as if it was flying directly towards me.
I gasped, mouth almost completely wide open.
Beautiful was the only word that seemed to fit in that moment, and I felt guilty for mentally zooming in on how the windshield shattered almost instantly after coming in contact with her head for the last time. Beautiful. Breathtaking. And so, so....
"Hello? Miss?" "Yes, sorry." I said as I shook my head slightly to clear my thoughts. I handed my money to the employee who worked at the 7 Eleven I was currently stopped at. "You seem a little....out of it. Are you sure you are alright to drive?" the employee asked. "Yes, yes. Just a little tired is all. This redbull should do me good" I reassured him as I grabbed what I had paid for just moments ago. I would have been well on my way to the car I had stolen if he hadn't reached for my hand. He succeeded in holding it in a tight grip, smiling only with his eyes. I ripped my hand away as I gave him my most disgusted face. He was quite literally twice my age. I made sure he seen me wipe my hand furiously on my jeans as I left.
I hopped into the small grey Honda I stole yesterday and put the key in the ignition. I opened my redbull quickly and took a gulp before I dropped it in the cup holder. I turned the key and the engine starts slowly and pathetically. I willed my hands to grip the steering wheel and lowered my foot onto the accelerator, continuing on in my journey as I let myself wander back to my most frequent thoughts.
Beautiful. Breathtaking. And so, so.... satisfying.
A shiver went down my spine as I drove straight through a red light, to engulfed in my thoughts to notice.
